Coyote down boys. Nothing else just yet. Little more time left. Sent from my SM-G950U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Just getting out. Saw that same 6pt that I saw early following right behind a doe. I heard him grunting, which was neat. One of my best sits this season, topped off with a beautiful sun set. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Well that’s it for me!!Looks like I have one tag left. Our season ends tomorrow and doesn’t look like I will be able to get out, my son is on his way home from college for a few weeks. Been a lot of fun on here trying to keep track of everyone’s experiences. Good luck out there. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I am about to quit bow hunting. Good god. I have no idea what just happened. Missed a nice buck. Twice. Took my time, though I made good shots. Don't know if this new site is screwing with me. 35 freaking yards. Big 8. Read the playbook to a T. Shot under him, and then I think I second guessed myself and shot just over him at 40. What the hell am I doing. Ugh. So defeated right now. Not a drop of blood on either arrow. . How can I miss at 35 yards.
Curious about something. You are by far one of the more active scouters on the forum, you put some miles on all year long. This might be better suited for the scouting thread but what the hey. With all of the buck beds you find, have you ever thought about hanging a cellular trail cam on them to inventory what is bedding there and when? I'm not sure if it would ruin the unknown or be more of an advantage on which ones to put on a list and which ones to move on from. Then I wonder about the intrusiveness aspect of it and possibly blowing him out of there without actually being there. Just something I've been thinking about the past few weeks when I'm procrastinating to myself about scouting and hanging cameras.
Most of the places I have found those beds are on the current military base I hunt, and trail cams are not allowed. Also, once opening days starts and people are pounding around in the woods non stop, I don't have much faith in a singular buck bed and my ability to be the only one hunting it. I do have a place on the state forest I believe a buck is bedding in a grassy low bottom of maybe only a quarter acre of brush. I set a camera there 2.5 weeks ago. I didnt go tromping around but I did make a mock scrape (just an overhanging branch and scraped out the ground). Im interested to see if my thoughts are correct on where he is bedded based on the sign. Not sure how this will help me as a hunter, but maybe it will.
