I can get 1 more doe during archery but it closes this Friday. I did pass on a smaller 1 last Sunday and have not been out since. Might hunt Friday morning but I need to make sure my guns are sighted in for Saturday. This will be my daughters 1st full season so I need to get her on some deer. She missed one during youth season last year. The weather looks a little warm for the weekend but that should help keep her out there longer.

We literally have 5 team members that have already down two deer and it is mid-November. Crazy...

...and yes I realize it should be 6 if I'd just filmed the recovery or snapped photos. I'm gonna get another deer down with a bow, even if it means hunting bitter colds which I hate with a bow.

I vaguely remember a 1,400 once but not sure. Teams haven't always had the same number either. I may check out some of the old contests.

Quick check proved me way wrong. 17' and 18' were high years...but again I don't remember what the number of people per team were - maybe higher?

    2014 - 1196 (year I won lol)
    2015 - 1023
    2016 - 1283
    2017 - 1701
    2018 - 1498
    2019 - 1083

2017 there was 12 per team.

Appears quickly 11 has been norm.

Right! Pretty much I've always thought break 1,000 you'll be close, break 1200 you got a serious chance at top - however this year many teams are putting down a lot of year. Been a good year across the board for the contest.

Fellas, I'm so stinking close to tagging the big fella on the property, 70 yards this time but still cannot get him to commit to a doe/buck grunt or wheeze; but the end of November hopefully I can widdle that down to 30 yards and get an arrow into him. The doe are hiding somewhere, I have not seen a doe for about two weeks, I also haven't really hunted any mornings due to schedules and time, I should be out Saturday & Sunday morning hunting the top side where there is a bedding area.
    I'm still at it!

Ha!! How about I promise you a doe within the week. The buck may be a different story, but I can tell you that my standards are lower this year. That is probably a really good thing for the team. Most years I pass bucks that would make you all want to string me up. But this year, anything that has a little age to it is going to get the arrow regardless of the score. I can always get another buck tag and hold out for a giant if I get lucky soon. Right now, I am planning on a hunt tomorrow and to spend most of the weekend in the woods. The timing for buck movement should be good. I will do all I can!

Also I've never wanted to string you up....tie you up and claim your identity to hunt your properties - I cannot say that never crossed my mind LOL

This joker walked past one of my stands yesterday morning while I was at work. But, the wind was blowing crazy and from the wrong direction anyway. I normally do not shoot 8 pointers, but I guess I could take one "for the team". I think he is over 150 as a clean 8. Nice mature deer.
