Not good guys the property owners puppies followed my trail up there after I had been 40 yards from him for a bit and he didn’t know it. I was trying to creep to 30 and just shoot him at 30, and they scared that buck. He run into the other property and bedded in a dead fall. Guess what now? Landowner said absolutely no to me going and trying to put him out of his misery. I’ll be hunting in the evening today. I feel like a terrible bow hunter all the deer I’ve killed ethically, and the last doe I shot was a liver shot and now this buck was shot in the shoulder:( Thanks for you guys support

That really sucks, but, it is completely out of your hands if another property owner has said no. Can you call a game warden and see if they can assist. Not sure what state you are in, but, sometimes the officers can retrieve the deer once it dies.

Well crap. I don't understand that thinking on the landowners part. Can you call game officer? He may be able to force the landowner to grant access for recovery. May be an option at least, but risk burning that bridge.

I can't believe that deer isn't dead. Might be worth contacting the DNR.

Sitting here with 1% motivation to hunt this afternoon. Seen only 3 bucks in November. Not a one in 11 days.

Did you have any reason to believe the neighbor wouldn't give permission for a potential recovery? Just curious, because if you saw the buck bed down again in a dead fall on the neighbors, then he couldn't have gone too far onto said property? I don't condone trespassing, but if I thought the neighbor would say no to a recovery, I'd have taken my chances on getting a killing shot into that buck anyway, if I could do so undetected.

Yes he’s on another property. It’s not gun season yet either and I think even if I had permission that’s the only way you could shoot him cuz he’s in brush now and it’s in the very bottom of a valley. For the guys asking I live in Tennessee I could try to call the Gamewarden but the last one I called this October was very mean to me when I called on a guy poaching deer with a rifle behind me when it was bow season only, and that guy shot in my direction. I wasn’t wearing orange cuz it was only bow season. It’s muzzleloader and bow season right now but I don’t own a Muzzleloader cuz I only like Bowhunting and occasionally Rifle hunt. Even if I did have a Muzlleloader it’s out of the equation now

LOL Depending upon how much time you have left in your season, I wouldn't go then!

Misery loves company. lol I've hunted 11 days in Nov, putting in about 46 hours, and seen two small bucks. Disheartening to say the least.
