Same here today again. It’s miserable hunting in November when it’s this warm. Rut activity has been minimal

I had a decent hunt yesterday. Saw one good buck in the morning chasing a doe through the woods. Hung a stand at another farm around noon to play the wind and to find the does. I found the does but only one small buck.

Haven’t been on in awhile. Been busy either working or hunting.
Got my target buck this morning. Been hunting him pretty hard for last several weeks and it finally came together.

    Will score in a bit.

The rut has been pretty slow here. Warm temps are crazy. We had a bunch of rain past two days now temps are dropping to normal. I'll be out Saturday through Wednesday. At this point going for at least a doe.

This weary old girl came in on edge. Wind blowing from her to me, good cover, and didn't make a sound. I'm pretty sure she spooked from my climbing stick or the reflection from the finish of the recurve limbs. She was at 8 steps from the base of the tree. As soon as she started to turn broadside and clear the little limbs, she spooked and bounded out to about 35yds and slowly worked off. I'm pretty sure she is the same doe I had an encounter with about a month ago in the same spot when a small limb saved her life once before.

Gun season rolls in this weekend starting Friday in Illinois. I’m off Friday and will be out Friday morning sitting my dads old stand with his gun like he would’ve if he were here. Then I’ll be out with my bow after that.

Scored and checked my buck in. Grossed 101 4/8. Wish I could've added more but I'm having fun this season. Hope everyone else is. Image.jpeg

It's all good. This is of course just for fun and bragging rights. Top scores are crazy this year. The top two teams right now would have won the whole thing last season, and we're only halfway through the season for many of us.

Awesome bucks fellas. I haven't been on here in a while but still after him. I've passed several 130-140 ish bucks. I have a few really good ones that I know are still around. When the cold weather sets it, I will get after it again. If I don't kill something by December 15th, I will lower my standards on a couple mature older class bucks in the 140 range.

I would be tickled to get a shot opportunity at one like that. Fun is what it's all about! I've had a blast so far, but it's been a grind with the struggle stick. Came so close to getting us some points on the 16th, but she spooked as I was about to draw. Plenty of close encounters, just haven't had everything align properly yet. I will be back out on Wednesday as long as the storms are just rain.

Camera arm costed me Saturday morning. Had a buck come in chasing a doe around and didn't have time to think about the arm being there. The bottom recurve limb hit it and sent my arrow just under him. If it had not been for that, it would have been a perfect shot at 12yds. I didn't realize what had happened until I played the video back and seen the camera shake.

I've been waiting for a monster bonus buck to show up but my number one from earlier in the season walked in and gave me an easy shot. Couldn't resist pulling the trigger. He made it about 80 yards and fell over. Just made myself a busy day.[IMG][IMG][IMG]

    Congratulations!!!

Your comment above had me confused. You said you were holding out for a "bonus buck" which made me think you had already killed a buck and I was combing back through the scorecard looking for it.
