It's been a busy couple of weeks up here in Mark Twain National Forest. My son in law killed a doe and a stud 10 point with a 21 1/8" inside spread. My son got his first bow kill and I killed my buck. Then the weather warmed up and the movement ground to a halt. Ridgerunner and Cantexian showed up Monday and I've been trying hard to put them on deer but the deer just aren't cooperating. Cantexian did have a big 8 point walk by at 50 yards this morning but he wouldn't respond to grunt calls. I've been putting a lot of miles on my hiking shoes trying to locate good stand sites for the guys but the normal sign just isn't showing up yet. With this colder weather it should get better soon. I've been skipping sits lately, but I'll be back in a tree this afternoon and tomorrow morning to try to take another doe since that's all I can shoot until Saturday morning when gun season opens. Then the game will start again.
Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums[/QUOTE] Congrats on a good looking buck. good thing I proofread that they would have kicked me off the form
I am not up to sitting in a tree yet, but I hope to crawl into a blind this afternoon and tomorrow and hope that by this weekend I will be using ladder stands on some pinch points. The movement is great right now and I am anxious to get out. I hope to at least get a doe down to add 50 points. Good luck to all!
Did a thing tonight...will get pictures tomorrow with bow, I took emergency selfie ones to be safe tho.
Oh man!!!! Congrats buddy!!! Two more bucks to be added to the score! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Wow! Congrats guys on great bucks! I saw 6 bucks tonight, but nothing mature. It was great to get out.
Not gonna lie I cannot wait to take daytime images but there is something about night time with a light black and whites....
My BIL killed a slammer Michigan buck yesterday morning. Forgot to share with you guys. Here’s a few pictures Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Dang! This place is on fire! Illinois was a bust yesterday, but I am well rested today and ready to hit the woods this weekend. Wife and son went to visit a friend out of town so I am free to do as I please. Plan is to get out this afternoon and setup my sticks in the "good spot", hopefully it works out. I rattled a decent buck the other day, I need his bigger brother or grand father walk respond though. I'm still at it fellas!
Big congrats to Ty and Zach on great bucks! What a great team to be on. I will do my absolute best to put something down this weekend. Hope to be in a stand later today. The bucks are moving, I just got to get one in front of me and I have just the spot to do it! Be safe and have fun!
