Ordered a spearing site fishing portable, live on a clear lake so a couple 10" holes in a dark house is going to be fun. Mission is to take 100 hammer handles out of the lake this winter.

I was taught how to filet the pike, that top loin is pretty good.

Pike back steaks in pretzel breading on the electric fry pan with butter to brown it up.

The only time I will eat pike. Ever eat eel pout? I never have and probably won't waste time on Mille lacs to catch one either.

Very nice. I've got an Eskimo Fatfish 949i and that would work really well for spearing.

Never tried pout. Have caught several on LOTW and even though I've wanted to try them, I just haven't.
Know several that do and say they are very good.

Well of course we are almost neighbors, stop at Bills on the way and get some chicken strips, I like the honey mustard dipping sauce.

Anybody here ever run an ice saw? Debating if I should buy one or just use the chainsaw? Or just buy a 10" auger?

For spearing I’d assume you’d have to cut a large hole? I don’t see anyway you could spear thru a 10” hole. Tip ups would work but not spearing. The fish would be past that 10” hole before you could grab the spear. Plus your field of view would be too narrow.

This YouTube video is what I’m envisioning what you’d need to do unless I’m not understanding what your plans are. That’s how they do it for sturgeon in Wisconsin at least.

I plan on site fishing more than spearing for pike but want a big hole to see well.
