After my last two years hunting ive realized ground hunting is a blast. Last year i missed a nice buck and got upset so i climbed down and started walking back. Seen a deer in the standing beans and worked towards it. Got roughly a 28 yard shot on an old buck. Year before i killed one out of a make shift ground blind. Took 3 haybales and set them in a triangle with 2 feet between each one. Shot my buck standing on the ground at 30 yards.

Returned home last night from our Oklahoma trip. 4 of 7 hunters tagged out including my father on a 159 6/8 dandy 12pt, his first buck in the last three trips. That made the trip for me even though I did not see any of the hitlisters. Seen several 2-3 yr old 120-130 bucks. It was a great trip.

Now back to hunting Ohio bucks trying to get my son tagged out. Catching up with work this week and will have him out this weekend.

    Good luck to ya'll!

Picked a BOG Fieldpod and Primos Stakeout Ground Blind for the youth weekend. Got my son practicing his shooting position in the living room. This is about a kid friendly set up as it can be on public land. I am not going to put out anything bigger or more permanent. It would just be stolen.

Congrats to @grommel! He posted a doe to the scorecard before saying a word to us here. Yeah, my work day is really slow. I jumped the gun on projects to make sure they are done before I am off next week.

Well guys keep it up. @INbowhunter keep at him he will slip up. Adam good luck with the kid. @buckeyehntr5 sounds like you had a great trip. Im on night duty tonight. Girl sleeps fine on someone's chest but wakes up instantly if you put her down. May try sneaking out in the couple days. Sounds like boss is ready for me to come back. Going to try to sneak some magic to have next week off.

I brought my bow and block to work this weekend. It's been a minute since I've shot my bow.

The last week we have finally finalized our move and settling into our new setting and kids are happily adjusting so that’s nice. My damn honey do list keeps growing at the wrong time. I talked my way out of a fall wedding a few years ago but she got me on moving during deer season this year Hah. With that this weekend I’ll be back out there in the stand and see if I can fill another tag and get my other 50pts for us. The woods are waking up for sure around here but warmmm temps this weekend will be odd.

If ya didnt see i took my daughter out today. At Last light had what looked like a spike. She said dad shot that deer. So i did. shot looked forward. Im jacked and freaking out. Hoping i didnt screw it up.
Already tracked some because she was with me. Blood had bubbles. And looks good. Might be only one lung though.
If your 2 this is what you do after eating candy while hunting with dad. 20201106_165350.jpg 20201106_175558.jpg 20201106_175607.jpg 20201106_195748.jpg

Good luck on the recovery! I killed my first deer with one of my kids on a rifle hunt with my middle son last year. Hoping tomorrow my oldest kills his first.

Didnt find much more blood. Guna hunt am then look some more. Meat prolly wont hold over night. But still try to find him. Blood at end was either meat or clots. 785 yards. From shot to climbing fence after grid searching. Screenshot_20201106-231603_onX Hunt.jpg

My son and I got skunked this morning. We didn’t see a thing which is unusual. The only thing I can think of is that oaks in this river bottom bedding didn’t produce many acorns. We ended up meeting the owner of the private land south across the public boundary. He said they had several deer in their food plots in the morning but all the deer bedded on the private. He did give me his number so i can call if I shoot one that makes it across the property line. My son decided he wants to play with his friends instead of
Going back out this afternoon. Heading to Missouri Monday.

So found arrow looked like 4 to 5 inches max penitration. Tracked three times nothing new. Must of been hit on shoulder bone. So took my daughter back out tonight. Same stand. Saw 3 deer in area i would of been hunting had i not taken her. Then at last like a deer came through tree in front of us. Got her to see it and got my bow. He stopped at 35 straight on and stood there. Then turned around and went opposite direction. The see a doe and 2 fawns on way home. Total counting them was 8 tonight before 6:30pm.

I ended taking my middle son out this afternoon. He got his first kill taking out a squirrel. He also grunted in a spike and a button buck with about 20 minutes of light left. Spike wasn’t legal but I drew on the button buck since it was an antlerless deer on that WMA. It must have seen me draw or my son move because it stopped right before stepping into my shooting lane. We were on the ground under a tree with a stake out blind. I am heading to MO in the morning.

Just not sure and rain is coming in tonight so that is going to make it interesting. Prolly go in easy right at last light. Nothing special but meat for the freezer and no late cold hunts with no deer.

He's here and I put him on a stand for the afternoon. He has Verizon and it doesn't work so well here in the Missouri Ozarks.
