I’ll be heading back up to our property this weekend to get my meat and the antlers back. Then I’ll be able to get a score on them and post it in the scorecard. Won’t be a huge score, but at least it’ll be some points added. Maybe I can get lucky and have a doe walk by me too!
Well guys. Interesting morning. I got in my stand and 1/2 hour into legal time I had not seen a deer. Seen 20+ here 2 weeks ago. I was dumbfounded. Thought about WHY then I remembered the farmer to the north left a good amount of soybeans standing?. Left my stand and walked north and Holy Chit were there deer in the beans!. Long story short, I had an absolute giant walking down the fence line towards me( like a 200" giant)! I crawed up next to an old combine and hunkered down, it was the only cover I had. He got to about 60 yards and then a doe popped up and he turned n followed her awy. Sat there for an hour and seen 2 other real good bucks and maybe 5 smalls along with maybe 15 does. If the wind stays the same, my ass is gonna be planted in that old combine tonight!
Got in and the farmer came and started taking the beans He quit early but deer starting pouring in 45minutes before dark. Seen 7 bucks but non of the big ones from this morning. Doe bleated in a yearling 8 pt to about 4 yards. That was fun. Seen about 15 does.. Overall, a fun sit.
Not my biggest by any means, but the first buck that I can say I called in. Grunted a couple times and brought him into 30 from 120. Add 130 4/8” to our score.
Actually, it's 140 4/8" that gets added to your score. This contest uses the gross score, not the net score. Congratulations on a great buck!
Great buck jsteph! I was gonna say, he looks bigger than 130 Well done team member. I'm at the cabin now getting ready. The only stand I dare sit tonight is about 60 yards away. I'll be able to watch my dog laying on the porch. When I left here Monday morning, I counted 108 pumpkins left in my plot right out the front door. Here is what it looks like now. I'd bet my left nuti could sit on the deck,drink a beer n kill a buck
