Thanks guys happy, but disappointed. Would really like my daughter able to come meet her atleast. Gotta wait till we get home.

So who can still shoot a deer? And who can still get points for the competition?

We had our son in April and our daughter wasn’t allowed to come and join us and it was a wicked bummer! I still have 50pts I can contribute with a doe or second buck.

Had a visitor last evening here in OK. First wild hog I’ve seen. Have hunted here for 4 yrs now and only heard the boars fighting until last night. [IMG]

@cantexian hey adam since you got all this time, since your not shooting anything. Your first page is missing couple scores i think. Bahahaha jp good luck guys. Its nice not being bombarded with people in and out, but gets boring sitting here for 3 days.

welp, I shot at one of my hit listers yesterday.. had a cold front come in Thursday and bring in 6" of snow with it. really had the deer moving. he came in on me while I was looking at what tree to climb. I dropped to my knees and dug my release out and knocked an arrow. he came into what I guessed as 30 yards (ranged it after for 27) and grunted him to stop. turned out to be a bad choice as it put him high alert and he ducked my arrow hard but not before my arrow a chance to scalp him alittle bit to give him a parting gift. First time I've taken a shot from the ground on my knees. Was a cool experience and rush non the less and with some lessons learned.

Sounds like a good time. Sucks for the miss. Tough lesson to learn.

I spent the weekend hanging out with my family. Next Saturday and Sunday is youth weekend and I will be taking my oldest out to try and get him his first deer. He will have the .243. I will take my bow along as I can hunt during youth weekend as long as I wear orange. But, he will be the priority until he kills one. If the wind is right, I plan on taking him back into the same spot I was in two weeks ago where I had six deer in bow range. As long as he can control his nerves and the deer are still moving through like they did a couple of weeks ago, he has a pretty good chance at it. The shots should all be under 50 yards. If the deer are moving as well as they did a couple of weeks ago, it is quite possible that we could double, him with the rifle and me with the bow.

Depending on how it goes with my son, I will head to Missouri on either Sunday afternoon or Monday. I will be in MO for most of next week unless I get lucky and make a fast kill.
