The way things worked out this year I didn't get to trimming the overhanging branches around my yard. I hate ducking and dodging them while mowing the lawn.

Now the deer have made scrapes all around the yard. It snowed yesterday and we got about 2 inches. When it got light this morning I looked out to see the following scrapes opened up over night. The apple tree one is 13 yards from the back door. I also have cameras on two of the scrapes. I put them there before the scrapes were made to watch for deer entering my food plot. I had no idea they would scrape in front of the cameras

I checked the cams yesterday before the snow and saw a lot of activity, bucks and does alike.

The deer will eat those apples. I've been meaning to prune the tree and remove the others from around it. That is the only apple tree on my property and was here when I bought the place.

I am in Wisconsin if that's what you were asking. Otherwise, I like most all states.

As I mentioned before, my son is out there. He came in for a quick bite to eat then headed back out. He said he'd had one of his best hunts ever so far. Saw 8 deer and had a few shot opportunities. He holds out for big bucks. Today is his day. I don't want to go out and possibly mess up his hunt. I'll have plenty of other times to hunt as he is starting a new job.

I know you guys understand. I want my son to succeed.

Greg, the buck that you killed way back in like 08 or 09, I believe it was a spleen/liver hit and you were very upset with yourself for the shot placement...you ended up finding him. he was maybe an 11 pt? did you ever get that deer mounted? If so, can you post a pic of that deer..for some reason that deer always impressed me but I would love to see the mount all these years later.

Maybe Im thinking of a different deer you shot... the one I recall was tall, not very wide but real heavy and dark horns.. If I remember, you let him go over night. and I will never forget you saying that the next morning when you found him he was still warm..that always stuck with me.

I think we all remember the infamous "Greg Pose"

Since it was brought up about mounts, did you ever get all of them done? Remember you had a rolling wall or something with your kills on them and a few were just forms without capes. Think you might have been doing one or two yourself? Hell, even think it was you after the move that had a couple of them just lying on the bed or whatnot in a spare room
