One of the properties I hunt has 2 stands along the corner of a field edge with tall grass/weeds currently, it would be perfect place to plant something and catch deer as they come into/out of the plot. I've never done a food plot and was wondering if making a plot midway through the season is something people do or should I wait till next season? Also what to plant for mid- late season?

Something people do? Not many. Something one can do? Yup.

I'd recommend focusing on solely cereal winter rye though this fall, it is one of the best plantings now as it can grow on into low low temps and will germinate in soil temps in the upper 30s.
