Seen my shooter on the hoof. He was grunting and putting on a show. Buck decoy is coming out. The gloves are coming off. Also had a little buck stroll by.
Been set up for about 25 minutes. Got about 1.5 hours of light left. Sweat my guts out climbing the tree, not as healed up as I thought. WTG OND! You were due.
Anyone here using the LWCG setup? Mathews HTR, Sword 5 pin, Truball release, Goldtip XT hunter 300, QAD 125 gr Swept, QAD rest
Sorry no hero shots tonight...grumpy hubby and broken deer pole so....best I can do right now we are both starving...lol. Thanks everyone! Here's her hanging from the old chicken coop. Best we could do tonight. Good sized I think. She came in with 2 other doe . Just filled with milk but no fawns with them.
Did not see a thing. Wind is looking bad for the A.M. sit but looking better for the evening tomorrow.
Well this evenings sit didn’t pan out as I hoped. Didn’t even catch a glimpse of a deer first sit this season I got skunked but it was bound to happen. All I saw was 2 raccoons and a corn picker which should make next weeks sits better hopefully. Deer seem to swarm to the fresh cut corn. Good luck tomorrow to those that have the privilege of hunting Sunday’s. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Stupid farm deer. That last lead doe got downwind and instead of running off or blowing, she started zigzagging and getting closer. She got to 15 yards and then went into the woods, circled around me and came back out. I thought it was over when she got upwind. Nope. She went back into the woods, circled me again then trotted back downwind and started the whole process over again. I finally had to climb down with her 30 yards away, so I got my Streamlight out of my pack and tried to spook her. She didn’t run, so I kept the light on and blinded her for a minute and then climbed down. I blinded her again before I got out of the climber, and I got out of there. She never did run or blow. Stupid deer.
Well I decided to go back to a scrape I went to after my morning hunt. I went to the scrape put some rutting buck scent in it and swapped cards. After seeing all the pics of deer there I opted to sneak back in for an evening sit. As I approached the scrape which is 15 yards from my stand I jump a deer bedded right next to it. I could not tell what it was but it never saw me as far as I know. The leaves were very crunchy. I get to the scrape to find it all tore to hell. I think the buck that made it was pretty pist he smelled another deer and bedded there waiting for the intruder to come back. A kind of wild experience. I am looking forward to seeing those pics as I did not check it but I am pretty sure the pics will tell the story of what happened there after I went there this morning.
Yep I didn't hunt this morning! While I was getting groceries with the misses this was visiting the stand I hunted tonight.
