Couple thoughts from my wife : Didn't grow up with it, so she doesn't know how to prepare it. With it so lean, you can't exactly swap it for beef. Go with cuts she can easily use (be it grind, roasts or whatever. If that doesn't help, my wife said she likes elk more then venison... Guess I'll need to hunt elk more...
I'm in. Made a ton of noise walking in and jumped 1 that was bedded right behind the blind. I have the fawn decoy set up this morning...doe or yote mission. 31° with a slight SSW wind. Super quiet out!
Good luck everyone stay safe!! Hope to get out tomorrow night can't go sooner have family obligations
All set up finally. Just before I turned into the property I saw a huge buck crossing the road going onto the other property. Pretty sure it’s the one I’m after. That’s not a good sign.
I'm up and ready to go out, but its pouring rain in VT. Radar says the rain will stop at 8, so I'll be dressed and ready to start walking in at 0730. Probably sit for 2hrs, then its off to a soccer game. Bucks, Bear and Turkeys are all on the menu. Good luck everyone.
In the stand, daughters got the bow this morning and we’re looking due her first deer. In a woods surrounded by corn. Lots o of rubs on the way in!!!! LETS HUNT Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
In the 8’x6’ stand my dad and I built when I was in 8th grade. Definitely not set up for bow shooting, but the wife is with me. Jumped 2 on the way to the stand in the dark. Hoping to kill a doe this morning. Good luck all!
My wife volunteered to watch out 4 month old granddaughter this weekend... I will be enjoying the show, but not in the stand. Good luck all!
I’m up. We got some rain last night so I have been getting pelted by half frozen drops for the last half hour. First sit in the saddle. Took me a little extra time getting set up but I’m loving it so far! Congrats on the kills everyone!!
7:20 it’s still raining hard here in RI. An hour west where I hunt, it has stopped according to the radar. Still happy with my decision.
Still pretty foggy here. The bootleg decoy and I are ready. Will see what happens. Sent from my Z719DL using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Been setup for an hour. Super loud walking in with the frost on the dead leaves and cut corn field. 33 degrees, calm and clear. I think everything in the county knows I'm here.
Morning all, long time no chat! Frosty cold this morning. In a new stand across from state gamelands today. Hoping muzzleloader people will push across. As of now, some gobblers going crazy. Good luck all!
Down at reliable 2. Changed plans due to running late. No turkey in a.m. just deer. Zip coming in and just one squirrel now. Nothing on any fields. Really cold so catch ya later while I warm fingers
Was full draw on my target buck right at legal shooting time. Still too dark and didn’t feel right taking the shot. He was none the wiser I am here, hoping he comes back through shortly.
Set up near bedding, three doe came by at first light. I was going to light up the biggest one but I never had a clear shot. Just as well I need to focus on getting a buck down. Still lots of leaves up. good luck my brothers(and sisters)!
I was in before daylight. Cold 28 degrees Wind is out if the S at 3-4 mph Saw my first legal buck. Driving in 200 yards before I was going to park. Hopefully this is a good sign of things to come. Had 2 doe at 60 yards at 723. I was looking a different direction and they caught me moving towards them they turned and went back the way they came. Should be a good day. Good luck everyone that's out Let's go!!!!!
