Anyone have any tips on hunting Volo Bog in Illinois? I am hunting there 11/13-11/17 in Zone H, as part of the state park lottery hunt. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks and good luck this fall!
is that one of those "dedicated stand site" type hunts? God I hate northern Illinois State Game Area regulations. Confusing as hell. Anyway, I imagine that the rut will be full bore and you will have bucks running all over. Sorry can't help much.
@dnoodles-thanks. I have access to that zone from 11/13-11/17, but I can set up my stand on 11/11. I won't have much time to scout, as another hunter has access to that same zone the week before. Good luck this fall!

My cousin actually shot his first deer out at Zone H two years ago. I helped him hang the stand, and he actually missed a little buck within 10 minutes of his first sit. He also saw a real nice 8 pointer hitting a scrape as he was walking out. There was some good sign and a few scrapes here: And it seemed like majority of deer movement throughout the zone was here: There's a good amount of deer throughout the Volo Bog, and I've seen some nice bucks out there over the years.
