made it out yesterday PM. Saw more deer in one afternoon than all last year. had a 1-1/2 year old buck 15 feet in front of my stand for 10 minutes. My son (Fishsoft92) saw 4. no good shots for him. its looking to be a good year.
Got some cool video of a small stag thrashing a bush and making a wallow. Wish I could share the video. Sent from my SM-N981U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
These little guys were having a little fun. Even though I haven't ever taken a buck with my recurve, I let them both enjoy their evening. Every deer that was on the food plot yesterday evening showed up except for the big guy.
Got out for the first time this morning. Saw several but the only ones that were close enough to sling an arrow at were a yearling 6 point (lots of potential in this one - long brow tines) and a fawn that bedded down next to a neighboring tree. Pulled one card and saw a new buck that has been showing up at 7:30pm fairly regularly. Out to check a couple more cameras now.
I was out this morning and had two nice 3 year olds at 10 yards. They'll get a pass from me this year. Going out this afternoon to try to target one of a couple of nice mature 8s that have been frequenting one of my feeders. If they don't show I'm open to taking a doe given the opportunity. Saw one of the two mature 8s last night just after 6:30, but he tripped me up and came from a direction I wasn't expecting. He came from the direction that I normally walk in to this stand. As he crossed over my path he stopped, turned, and went back the way he came from. Interesting that he already had a number of does in tow. Tonight I'm in the same stand but I drove around to the other side of the ranch and came in from a different direction. I've also taken a lot more care in terms of scent control today. Missed my opportunity at a big black bear this morning. In GA you can't shoot a sow with cubs, and I had seen one with a cub Tuesday in this area. Well come to find out, it was a big boar and by the time I realized it, it was out of range.
I’m out tonight. It’s 70 degrees, but I’ve got a perfect wind. Stay tuned. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
No deer this morning but was able to take this cool looking coyote. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I was out this morning and had an encounter with a great new 4+ year old buck. He showed up along with three does and yearling 6 point. If it wasn't for the does prying eyes I would have had about a 13 yard shot at him. But they all took off before I had a moment with all the does looking somewhere other than my general direction. Love that adrenaline rush!
Doe down. Figuring out how to do selfies now. Edit: Added my two pics and details to the score thread.
Had some luck out on the marsh yesterday. Crazy thing is, it's the anniversary of my father passing away. This is the second stag I've killed on October 13th since he passed. I guess dad is still looking out for me. Time to switch gears and go after whitetails. Sent from my SM-N981U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Great shot and great harvest. I can feel my dad with me when I hunt too. He passed away in February and I know he’s still out there hunting with me in whatever way he can. Love that you feel that as well with your dad. Best of luck on the whitetails buddy Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I’ll be heading out tonight in Missouri. Hopefully the cool temps get the deer on their feet a bit early tonight. Thinking about doing a morning hunt near bedding tomorrow if unsuccessful tonight.
Shot fired! Gonna wait a bit and then get the flashlight out and see what we got! Will update when I can.
