Going out around 2:30. Headed to my lease on the river. Perfect wind. First sit of the year in this stand! Three scrapes along the field edge farthest on 35 closest 18 from my stand. Going to hit the scrapes with some Tinks before I climb in.
I'm out. Saw two squirrels. I knew it was time to leave when, 2.5 miles deep in the woods I see/hear a guy talking on a cell phone walking through the woods and setting up 50ys from me. Smh. I added at least 5# weight, from the rain this morning.
Thought I posted that long ago. Got two more trees planted. Now there is no more clover.. The farmer winrowed (sp?)it and now they are picking it up right down to dirt. This wi!l definitely change things. Haven't read all, so congrats to anyone successful and good luck to the rest..
Reading this thread does get me excited about hunting love hearing about those out in the woods. But try a hunt without touching the phone just once. Not going to rant about it but just try it.
My buck then my buddy Jameson’s 5x5 with some dried up hanging velvet that he shot bedded at 14 yards. Shot within 600 yards of each other less than 18 hours apart as well.
Back in and situated for the night. Winds are kinda iffy but we can work with this. Test my scent control if they happen to come at me from one way. Feelin good!!!! Good luck all!! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Just got settled in. Perfect conditions. Saw two scrapes and some real fresh poop on my trail in. Also spooked at least two not 20yrds from my tree! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
by "Muzzy 100s" I am assuming you mean the old school fixed three or 4 blade heads? I haven't used them in years but while they were bone busters they were not known for painting the town red. Did you miss the heart? Based on your description of the entry and the angle; that exit looks a little low for a good lung hit. Might've only nicked the lungs or even just one lung. Guess without seeing the field dressing; no way to know The exit kinda looks like this no-mans land in the diaphram but not "in" the lungs. If he was more quarter-to; then it easily could've been a low one-lung hit with only a small hole or slice through it.
