Today will go down as one of my favorite hunts ever!! Got climbed in the stand about an hour before light, dad was set up about 100 yards away. Not long after light I had a mom and two little ones coming in at about 50 yards, the mom got to my trail I walked and immediately started blowing, they took off to the neighbors pines. About 10-15 minutes later I caught movement behind me and saw a big doe out in the pasture that I can’t shoot into, she made her way off down the wood row and started heading towards dad, about 20 minutes later I hear the pop of my dad shooting a deer, he calls me and said a doe came in from the opposite side of the one I saw and came to 20 yards and he watched her drop!! Instantly I’m pumped and start building my game plan for the evening hunt. Now it’s only about 7:30am so we decide to keep sitting you never know what can happen, about 8am I catch some movement in the thick patch to my right, after awhile I make out 3 does working their way towards me. I get ready, they are coming in the path that will take them to a 12 yard shot, they mill around for what seems like forever, and eventually make their way to a further trail, the lead doe steps out into an opening at 38yards, I drew back fully expecting to let down because I thought I would be shaking too much to make that shot, to my surprise my pin was rock stead and I slowly started pulling, watches the nockturnal fly right where I had my pin set, only the doe jumped the string ducked and turned, my heart sank... I watched her take off with the arrow sticking out after about 10 seconds I hear what I suspect is her crashing in the pines.. I call dad, we give it some time and I get down to start looking for blood, none to be found, she headed off and I marked where I saw her last so I started going that direction, after about 20 yards I find my arrow just soaked with lung blood, way more penetration than I thought I got!! Then came having to get permission to recover the doe on the property, I’ll save the long story, eventually we got permission followed blood about 10 yards over the property line look up and there she was!!!! Awesome day for sure and great time spent with your dad. Good shooting on both your parts. Congrats to you both!
Congrats again! Curious, did the neighboring owners wife give you permission via FB messenger? I was wondering how that was going to work out.
Nice work. This exact same story has played out in my head for 18 years now... hasn’t become a reality yet. Fun memory. Enjoy it. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
She did not, the farmer that farms the property I hunt ended up knowing him! Adam Elite Kure 29.5/70lb CBE Engage Hybrid 3pin Dead Center Dead Level Hunter Kit 8/6in Goldtip Kinetic Kaos 340 Spine 29in TAC driver 275 100gr NAP Killzone 455gr/276fps

Congrats, my old man is hunting this year for the first time in three seasons because of poor health. I plan on spending at least a couple evening sits with him on the ground, just like when I was a kid. I pray for any success although I am just thankful he can be there this year.
Congratulations to you and to your Dad, Adam. I can't even imagine how that must feel. Awesome day for you both!!!
