Where do you live in ohio? I'm between heath and zanesville. Id love to get together and shoot some if anyone was near me. I work in columbus an hour away do I dont get to hand out with many people living as far away as I do.
Sorry in advance for the long post! So this weekend I/we are going to try and get the shooting house we built last winter finished and installed at the family farm. It was built from left over lumber from several projects I have done over the years. We are still going to have couple hundred dollars in it for sheeting and roofing when its all done. Its going in a travel corridor that has a lake at the south end, ag fields bordering it, and it dumps out to a creek lined with more ag fields. We have a camera setup running video there and we are getting lots of day time traffic moving south to north along the creek bottom. We installed the base this spring and here is where it's located on the farm. Pics of the skeleton finished in my side yard. Disassembled and awaiting installation. I got one wall finished last weekend as you can see in the picture below. Looking forward to hunting it some in late season this year!
Looks awesome. Ive thought about tossing up a hard deer hut at my place. I have a great spot over looking my garden which turns into a food plot in the fall. I think it would be easier to muffle the noise of my 3 year old in it haha
Dead serious. I hadn't installed my blind in that corner of the field yet, so I just popped up a chair in the woodshed for opening weekend. Saw 11 does/fawns.
I plan on taking my grandson out in it during his X-mas break. We have a any weapon antler less season then. He is a bit fidgety and will have the space for him to relax and not have to be so quiet. I also have a heater that I plan on building for it that should be scent free and warm the inside up nicely. I'm going to take a 5 gallon bucket and fill it half full sand. Bury a metal can 3/4 way down in the sand. Place a roll of TP inside the can and soak with rubbing alcohol. Light and enjoy. Should be very little fumes and make some heat. When done using you just put out the flame by covering the can top, and put the lid on the bucket. It will probably cost less than $10 bucks to build.
That’s going to be a pretty slick set up. Looks like it will be going in a great spot. It’s nice to have warm and dry options for those nasty days.
I'm still cutting and splitting wood at my place. Im a doe farmer year round lol. We are out in the yard, on the tractor all the time, they just don't move. I also have a 15 year old daughter hopefully this season will get her first deer. She shot a doe last year and it hit a bit high in no man's land i caught it out in the yard a week later eating in the food plot.
Snuck out to move some cameras around. Only pulled one card off a mock scrape I put out in the spring. They are using it. Just need some big boys to show. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That's tomorrow's chore. The power company dropped a big silver maple at one of my hunting properties, so I'll be cutting and splitting wood all day. Fair trade for a good hunting spot!
I just got back from splitting firewood. It was so damn hot I called it quits before doing any of the hunting chores I had planned. I'm hoping to check my camera at the "Millionaire Property" tomorrow. This place is 2.5 acres of woods behind my friend's $900k house. The rich folks tolerate me hunting because the deer eat all their fancy landscaping.
Getting ready to head to the farm this morning to work on the shooting house. Hope to get a lot accomplished. Will try and get some build pics of our handy work.
Well hopefully you guys will have productive days. I was hoping to run out to the lease and get some more trimming done. This rain is killing my motivation. Usually I like going out there in the rain and getting somethings done. Time will tell.
Long day, but we got almost everything done. Still need to paint the window frames brown, hang the door, sound proofing on the ceiling and lay some indoor outdoor carpet. One more work day and it will be ready to hunt. Pics of the build.
