In addition to our own farming I took on more custom work this year, so I have literally shot my bow one evening this year, but I really hope to at least get out a little bit this fall. Also have a bear tag, so I'm looking forward to that too.
I still have to verify my tune with BH's, and sight in my fixed pin. During the off season I use a single pin, so will need to swap them out. Wash camo and put in totes, put game bags, pack frame, tarp, and game hanging hooks back in camper. Go through calls to see if I need to pick up some more mouth reeds or not. Low on BH's and will pick up some more, and a pack of replacement blades. Not in too bad of shape. Need to fling a BH soon though, in case the tune needs a bit of tweaking.
I'm probably a 8 or 9 out of 10. Been shooting since the snow melted in March, scouted a few new properties during turkey season, literally just got back inside from climbing a tree and shooting in my back yard. The only thing I haven't done yet is purchase licenses. If the season started tomorrow, I'd be ready.
So got plots done other than fertilizer and now I need to check and repair a few stands and clean blinds . Shooting will be everyday starting next week. New strings last year and will pick up crossbow from a restring tomorrow. I put out the hub blind today. Tucked into a brush blind. I do need to go get my party permits way late doing that.
I am shooting reasonably well, and did some scouting twice at 9500 elevation. Then came dr visit Aug 10 lol. In spite of major 4" slab of me removed, I will be ready. I solo hunt 3 mile 4x4 road, then hike 3 hrs to base camp. I leave when I get one or stay the entire 30 days. I told the doc I will probably tear her good work, which surprised her, then she went to work with deep muscle sutures, extra sutures and 3 layers lol. She said it will be difficult to tear these and if so, extremely painful lol. I am ready lol. If I had known, I would have placed the cancer on hold till Oct lol. My face is next followed by reconstructive surgery. Some Frankenstein stuff for sure lol. Good luck hunting!

Very exciting as always, today is 3ird day since surgery. Dam good thing I had been shooting every day prior to surprise doctor ambush lol. My follow up appt to pull sutures and examine is Aug 25th. That same day, I will drive a 3 mile narley jeep road, then hike 3 hrs to set up base camp, and return that day or following day. I need 2 to three trips to complete camp for potentially solo 30 days lol. At some point, I need to pull my 72# bow lol. Wow, hunting is so exciting.
This weekend Ill be hanging 2 stands/ clearing out some lanes in a new area i have this year. I also switched to a single pin so I need to get it dialed in and then ill be ready to go.
I’ve been checking stands and move stands Cutting shooting lanes setting up my scrapes for a couple of weeks now shooting my bow out to 40 but most of my shots are only gonna be 20 to 30 at the most pretty thick where I hunt . Very exciting, since here in NW Colorado the elk rut seems to get later each season, I was thinking of after setting up base camp, I should scout some BLM pvt property hay field lines lol. I set up my basecamp a week before season opening. Either way, it sure is fun
