After 13 years with a PSE bow in hand, the Drurys make the switch to Mathews bows for the fall season. The post The Drurys Make the Switch to Mathews appeared first on Bowhunting.com. Continue reading...
I know this is the Internet, and nobody cares about what the "celebs" are doing, but I think this is pretty cool. I grew up watching these guys and have always respected what they have accomplished. While I admittedly don't watch as much of their stuff as I used to, I am still amazed at the quality of animals Mark & Terry are able to kill each year. They are second to none in the big whitetail killing world. It doesn't surprise me to see PSE drop them. Once PSE's old marketing person was fired and the new team came in you saw them snatch up Dudley and Donnie Vincent, which I'm sure did not come cheap. It seems like they're going in another direction creatively, and the old standby box blind in a food plot guy was no longer as attractive to their creative direction. And I'd be willing to bet their contract was worth a pretty penny and they were looking to recoup some of that money. Mathews dominates the whitetail world in the Midwest and while they're a little long in the tooth, there are few out there still doing it at the level of these guys. As a fellow Mathews shooter, it's cool to see them on "the team". Now please, proceed with the sellout bashing talk or the "I don't watch outdoor TV" that's sure to ensure.
As a Mathews shooter and far from a fan boy I can say hells yeah. They are giant killers and have contributed to the overall success and advancement of the sport more than any other in the last few decades.
what would be even better is if instead of paying people to shoot their bows, they just made their bows cheaper signed the guy shooting a multiple year old bow he bought second hand
You see this all the time in professional bass fishing.. Look at Kevin Van Dam. over 2 decades with Quantum and bam, now he's a Lew's guy. It's just part of the business. They have to make choices sometimes for the better and/or they don't have a choice, they get the boot. There are many good bows. But at the end of the day, Mathews seems to be on top year after year in sales and popularity. Are they better? the best? I don't know. I have shot and owned several different bows, they all killed and I am sure this Mathews I have will to if I do my part.
i would love to see drury's do some public land hunting in PA or other states. this will show their true skill. i'm sure they could still get some decent bucks but not like the low pressured named bucks on there farm.
Preach ! I been saying this for a while about a lot of different people on TV. Granted they work hard or they pay someone to work hard to help produce these big deer and maintain there props. I know it takes a lot to kill and grow big deer and nothing is a given with deer, they do kill giants and often. Seem like good dudes but I don’t know them. If I was in there position I would be pumped to manage several different private lands, be curious to see how they would hold up on differ public lands. Don’t think will ever see it they have no reason to. I’d really like to see Marks daughter hunt different props, bc she kills giants on the family farm all dolled up and I don’t think she could hang anywhere else, well once again back to beers and pens game.
Drury's are good guys, but money is money. Dudley was a Hoyt guy until PSE backed up the Brinks truck. PSE couldn't afford everyone, Mathews got themselves a household name. Win win for everyone.
Great for them if they are happy. I use the products which work well for me. I can say what the "celebs" or the guys on BHOD put in front of me perk my interest in products, however I don't buy products because of who is using it. Let's face it, for the Drury's it was a business deal. PSE makes fine bows but Mathews has a much bigger market in the bow hunting industry.
Good for the Drury's. They deserve it. Hopefully they got a pay raise switching from PSE to Mathews. Mathews typically makes smart decisions in this regard although they still do have Greg Ritz on board.
