Good luck this year everyone! Season is just around the corner. Got a couple that I’ll be chasing this year. Last year I shot my first bow buck. Probably around 100inch max. Hopefully I’ll get a shot at one of these guys this season. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I'll also add to the sentiments many have said with two rules I'd recommend anyone new or newer to the contest to do: #1 STAY ACTIVE I've been on the winning team, I've also been on some BOTTOM of the barrel placed teams - which were equally enjoyable because the team thread stayed active and guys didn't ghost the team. Stay active, check in with your teammates in the team thread and if at all possible choose a captain that will push that communication. Often times the captain fostering communication can keep folks active even late into the season when many have burned out. Just stay active! Honestly, if it wasn't so tough to police, I'd love to see those that ghost or BARELY interact at all be booted from the contest the following year as well (barring a real life issue which we have all seen). #2 NOT WORTH CHEATING The contest at its core is just FUN and an opportunity to live through the seasons of others which sometimes grow into friends. I have made hunting trips with guys met through the contest. I've witnessed and celebrated teammates having their first kids during the contest, losing family or harvesting their first buck. With that at it's core, adding some inches here or there on your buck, trespassing to kill a buck (some will know what I speak of) OR expecting an exception to the rules to be applied to you have no place in the contest. I don't want teammates that care to win, I just want teammates that will be active and have fun with it and winning is merely a cherry on top of it all if it happens.
I didn't see any bonus points for saddle hunter and Sitka gear hunters; how many elitist points do we get?
Didn't you hear... Tree saddles were last decade's fad. The 2020's are all about blaze orange face masks and installing a window air conditioner in your box blind.
That would be funnier if saddles weren’t BLOWING UP right now. It seems like there’s a new saddle maker comping out every month and everywhere you look is a new “First time buyer” looking for mods. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Seems like I killed a 140ish buck couple years ago in this thing, a 160ish last year but this wig wearing belly showing harvest pic is thinking bigger this year. I've got a few plan B bucks as well.
I have yet to shoot a 180, so I have to be due this year. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Come on noodles, the right Michigan counties could pull it off! I got my two back from last year and they turned out great. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
