2 mile bike ride to the start of where I wanted scout, 2.5 miles of scouting open hardwoods and didn’t find much, but I had to make a couple more casts before riding back. This turned a flop scouting trip around really quick. Beer time. [IMG] [IMG]

Only 2 months left before season here. Live from the stand will be here soon! Looking forward to my next cam pull to see all what bucks are still around.

I've been really bad about my cams this year. Hubby is getting tractor set for fall discing. We have a whole lot of rain that hit last night and coming mid week I'm thinking of not cutting my wheat but spreading more clover into it with my fall brassica mix. Which was only 2.50 a pound not 2.90. They quoted my way high shipping until I said whoal!! you have my last order in front of you and no way was my shipping that much. Hhhmmm looks like we can take 10.00. off that. Anyways fertilize seed and then just roll the dried wheat over turkeys and critters will get most of the wheat seed and the stalks should mulch the seed enough for a good germination.

Im going to grab my two cams next week. Been out since late May. A few more fishing trips and scouting missions and the deer season will be upon us.

Is all that property to the north of the river public hunting? And if so, can you access it from the north or just the south?

I admire how well you know how to read maps. It’s awesome. I’ve learned a lot from your posts in this thread. We have 0 topo here in central MN farm land, but it’s awesome info to read.

I plan to scout this marsh/public soon. Walked it this spring with snow still on the ground and found some crazy sign in certain spots. We are in a drought so I should be able to get in there without hip waders. I know there are some giant bucks in here. Check those trails through the cattails...

Yes and yes, it can be accessed from the north. If I had a boat it would be no problem at all. There’s some isolated islands to the East that I need to check out as well. A lot more boat traffic than I expected on that creek though.

Here are some maps of a spot I have been thinking about scouting. I have marked some obvious pinch points. Anything I missed? Dark orange lines are gravel roads through the WMA. The light orange line measures the distance from the lower parking lot to edge of the lake, 770 yards. The yellow line looks to be a walk in trail. I am thinking the should be deer bedding on the ridge above the lake edge.

Mosquitoes seem to be down this year when deep in the woods. Anyone else notice this?

Just got back from trimming lanes in 2 stand locations. Wicked tree pole saw worked awesome.

If he's alone (no herd) it's a miracle the wolves haven't gotten him. That area is lousy with them.

Just ordered my kayak trolling motor mount. Now I can slip in and hunt some lake spots without a ton of hassle and paddling.
