I got a Mathews VXR 28 a couple of weeks ago and I've got to say it is definitely an amazing bow. After getting her sighted in I had to put it to the test. I tell what paired with a Rage she hits HARD! (picture with my hand is the entrance) 20200415_194923.jpg 20200424_191730.jpg 20200424_192843.jpg 20200424_192908.jpg 20200424_192944.jpg 20200424_193418.jpg 20200424_193420.jpg 20200424_193429.jpg

Thanks, I am actually really impressed with the rage. My old bow just didnt shoot hard enough for me to confidently try them out. But I got to say I'm sold on them.

Well done. I’m not so sure how those mechanicals do on 200+ pound boar hog shields though. But deer it’ll crush em.

I've cleaned a few of those big boars I think as long as its kept away from solid bones you should at least get through to the opposite side of the ribcage. That being said if I felt he was to big I would just switch arrows. Although on second thought I think it would be worth just taking the shot just to find out what happens. I know that sounds terrible to say but with how over run them hogs are I have no problems guinea piggin em.

The great thing about wild boar is because they are so badly wanted dead, they become the proving grounds for many firsts because you simply can hunt them year round, while deer you can’t.

Nothing I’ve seen in my 35 years arrowing boar can top a cut on contact no bleeder head with a wide cut like 1.5 inches coupled onto a thin diameter but 500+ grain arrow for that great penetration.

Going back to what you alluded to on size. I had 2 boar come in one late afternoon. One was simply a giant. Being alone, I just didn’t think I’d be able to lug it back to camp on my Atv.

So I passed him, and arrowed his buddy. The buddy was like half the size. He came in @ 180 pounds. I wonder how big that giant was. If I had someone in camp, he’d had ate it.

And you know you would have to lug him out of the thickest of brush.

You know the deal. 10% of the hunters bag 90% of the kills.

It’s for a reason. Busting balls to accomplish it until the end.

Just cracked this boar hog Friday. 215 pounds but nose not 100% in the air.

Needed help dragging. Could not rack it up on my hitch haul.
