We live in the middle of four subdivisions on the north side of town. Last night, the wife was walking the dogs in the back yard when one started growling. She was something in the yard behind us. At first, she thought it was a dog but was a doe. I was covering the lawn tractor and didn't get to see it. Went to take the dogs out this morning...the doe was in the back of our yard! She ran across our yard but had to stop due to several fenced yards in both subdivisions. She watched me for a minute or two while the wife went to get the camera. The doe too off and found an escape route between a thicket on our neighbor's property and a fence on the property behind our subdivision. Live here 26 years- possums, foxes, squirrels (out the wazoo) and all kinds of birds. The doe was the first for us. Going to keep the camera in the basement, JIC.
I do, too. There is a bit of traffic here plus the doe would have to contend with a main road where the speed limit is merely a suggestion. Our church is about 1-1/2 miles away. We have a lot of acreage and have seen deer, one a 6 point buck, and turkeys. We were leaving church, saw a hen on the back of the property. We called our son who was waiting for the rest of his tribe. He showed it to the youngest one with him. "Daddy, can I hold it?"

No flowers in the back yard. There is a feeder that we fill with corn for squirrels to keep them, hopefully, out of the bird feeder. We will fill the corn feeder and put some corn on the ground. I'll be up early and see if I can see her. Will post if I get some photos.
Apparently Hostas are some form of deer delicacy... Ask me how I know. Our neighborhood deer still mostly nocturnal... May only see them at dawn/dusk a couple times a week. After they drop fawns, they will be more visible...

I got a "deer in the hood" two years ago...and the bumper, grill, headlight, and marker light. Title made me think that was where this thread was going. Haha
Get a sackful of hair from the pet groomer or barber shop. Lowe's has some stuff that is basically rotten eggs.
