Had the same thing happen where I work. A guy's wife went to a bigger city and a week later got sick and had all the symptoms. She goes to the Dr., who takes a sample from her to send off to be tested and writes BOTH of them work releases until the test results come back. Guy chooses to come to work anyway, Mon-Wed, before he is ignorant enough to mention this to a coworker who promptly talks with the supervisor. He gets sent home and we clean the heck out of everything in his work area. We are also fully cleaning the restrooms once a day, and wiping down door knobs, faucets, vending machines, microwaves, etc. in the break rooms after every break and lunch.
This was at the beginning of last week and we still haven't gotten the test results back yet. She had to have seen the Dr. the weekend before last week, so it has been 8 business days now and still no test results. We do have one employee out sick right now, but no others so I think we haven't been exposed to it...but still. Guys like this is why we will never stop it from spreading everywhere.

WW1 or WW2 has nothing to do with what is going on today.

What's more important. Keeping Americans working or putting your daughter or her child in danger of contracting a deadly virus.

Shut every non essential business down. Stop the spread.

Yeah a health care worker going to work every day to deal with sick people is not getting shot at but they are sacrificing and putting themselves in harms way and their family as well.

A lot kike measures being taken here. Company had a temp agency send in 2-3 more people to take care of it. All they do foe 10 hours each day and night is walk around with back pack sprayers filled with virucide and spray down doors, which are usually propped open, hand rails and anything else that may get repeated contacts. Each machine has a spray bottle of the same stuff foe wiping hoist conteollers, keyboards/mouse, machine controller, hand tools we're using, machine door handles amd pretty much everything we touch.

Pretty easy to maintain social distancing as most machines are the size of a normal 2 car garage or larger.

    Define non essential.

We have that here and aside from salons, gyms and similar businesses everything is being declared essential.

Stay at home only means stay 6 feet away from anyone you come into close proximity with while you're walking your dog, taking a jog, riding your bike, hiking, fishing, shopping, getting gas, getting something to eat.

Nothing has changed in any if the areas.

A choice will have to be made, letting the economy completely crash will permanently eliminate jobs rather than a brief hiatus.

It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't choice. For Trump it's a damned if you do regardless of which option he chooses.

    Exhibit a - China
    Exhibit b - Italy
    Exhibit c - Iran
    ...

That really only would be 1 qtr production impacted...but it discounts global supply chain and consumption. So, even if US was, by some miracle fully back to 'normal' by Easter, most of the rest of the world still wouldn't.

China reported, new cases due to travelers into their country.

Ps. France and Spain are circling the bowl. Russia, is about 7-9 days behind us, but reporting 30% daily infection imcreases.

    I don't think we're screwed either way.

There's a happy medium in there somewhere.

A big question is where did those who fled NYC go? My guess would be they went to places with few numbers like WV, which could have worse consequences than staying put.

The time for a national lockdown has well passed. Now it comes down to who can self police themselves with common sense amd realize this could be largely contained within 3 weeks. Then just a matter of another 2 weeks to recouperate.

My sister in law is on-call without pay, so she has to stay home without pay, and if called upon, no pay. Absolute S show for them.

The company I work for wants us out running leads and just taking precautions. I'm a little irritated about it. Not bc I'm allergic to work or making money but bc I've had three leads this week that are nothing more than dumb older people that normally piss the day and their savings away at some casino and now are making entertainment for themselves. I had a lead two days ago that ended with me saying "you havent given a chit about the roof for twenty years, why start now?" And I left. I have a wife that takes drugs to suppress her over active immune system, psoriatic arthritis, and a sister that I am cooking, cleaning and financially responsible for while she recovers from a major operation. I'm not trying to drag something home. So since we as a nation cannot just heed the CDC warnings and recommendations I see this getting way worse before it gets better.

I agree with your date, just stating if things don't start getting fired back up I do not see a happy ending at all. Perception is a powerful tool, even if it just looks like things are starting by easter that would calm some nerves. This is where I agree with Trump, the economy has to start moving again.

I saw on a couple news pages that the school, restaurants, and bar closures will continue but he has no plans to shut everything down. Will see at his regularly scheduled 2 pm briefing.
