Is a cultipacker needed when doing a plot.. and if so what are some other alternatives .. does a lawn roller work? ... thanks Sent from my SM-G955U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I use a harrow drag, a small plastic water filled roller ,and started out with chain link with a log wire on the diagonal. There are many good DYI videos on you tube to make one. A culvert pipe with a centered axle and filled with concrete or packed with sand..
My tractor weighs 7000 lbs and has industrial tires. After broadcasting seed into a freshly tilled seed bed I simply drive the tractor over the entire plot. I've been doing it for over 10 years. It works well.
My yard is full of clover. You don't need anything. BUT the more steps you can do the better your results. Good luck
I turned an old hot water tank into a roller. Should probably take a pic of it someday. I think I have less than $100 in it and it works great.
