25 minutes on average. I'm also in Chicago burbs, however, I'm headed West (away from the city) so there's little to no traffic most days. It's a wonderful thing.
My son says he sees deer in one area many mornings, as many as 12. My wife and I travel the same route and are lucky to see a buzzard!
We moved 110 miles south 2 years ago. I drive 110 miles to work and stay for a few days and then head home. Or rarely I will commute back daily if my family needs me. Some weeks are more brutal than others but it is for a reason. Hoping my wife can renegotiate her work contract this spring (she has earned it) and my kids health conditions dont cause me to pay a ton of money anymore. Will give me the ability financially to get a job near home. It's been kicking my butt for two years now. I wouldnt know what to do with my self if I had an even remotely normal existence. This is the 2nd time since 2013 I've commuted like this in efforts to jump start my wifes new career which she is passionate about....its been working and she has climbed up quick.
I did the math and it was wrong, I thought I would put on over 33,000 a year commuting, nope would be much less because I don't go to the office every day my truck spends half the time parked at the airport.
Thanks buddy. It can bring a man down but I try to stay positive in the middle of chaos and exhaustion. All I know how to do. My wife is real close to making it semi big in her profession. Life changing big possibly. Maybe I'll get my first new truck since 2001 some day soon!
Depending on where we meet in morning, shop is about 5 mins, if meet other place it's 15 maybe 20 if stop at gas station. Driving to job site is different story, but that's not my vehicle. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Tell her to stay in college coaching pays better than the WNBA. And I can relate to driving an old pick up with growing kids. Yes at times it is a daunting task but there will be a day in the future when you are double income no kids (dinks) and it is so nice.
Not to be a debby downer but having 2 kids in college is a huge challenge and when you hear that you make too much money for the grant level or interest rate, ever since my kids were born I never felt I had enough money much less making too much money, but after freshman year out of the dorms and the food plan it does get manageable but damn the first year is expensive,
She will stay in college. She loves the atmosphere. She scouted for the WNBA as a high school coach for years.
I commute down 13 steps and grab my work phone. After that it could be anywhere from 20 minutes to a 3-1/2 hour drive( in their vehicle, on their time, burning their fuel)
Getting ready to commute this morning stopping by the office on the way to the airport so my commute will end about 7:30 tonight when I get to the hotel.
Lets, Bed to boys room 12 steps, boys room to coffee pot 20 steps, coffee pot to table by bow window 12 steps, well that's about it !!!
Three minutes by pickup, 4 minutes by golf cart. Unless, I get behind an Amish buggy or school bus in the morning, that can add as much as 30 seconds. Makes me a little crazy. lol.
I work out of my house. I have to drive my landscaping rig throughout the area but never far. After years of commuting into NYC I had had enough and made a change. The result is a schedule built around my kids and lower blood pressure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I am at the point where the drive is worth it, quality of life when I get home, coffee in the morning on the deck overlooking a lake. I will drive a long way to get there.
I just spent 6 hours driving to work then court as a witness, only to have the defendant not show. I don't think his lawyer liked it when I slow chanted, "capias, capias, capias" in the hallway when they were discussing his no show rear end.
