On March 2nd, 2020, Mathews Archery won one of the biggest lawsuits in the hunting/archery world. This all started about 8 years ago, when Mathews attempted to reach a private resolution with Bowtech. But after being unsuccessful in trying to reach an agreement, Mathews finally filed a patent infringement lawsuit 2 years ago. In a […]

I'm amazed at how long this went on and the number of bows that were included in the final ruling. I'd love to know the value of the final settlement. I'm sure that's gonna be a tough check to write!

Do you think it will set a precedent going forward or just make the companies become sneakier about conceptional theft

So, the Bowtech shooters that were always throwing shade on the Mathews shooters were actually shooting a Mathews. Love this.

I was a Mathews shooter until 2018. When I walked into the shop I was convinced I would walk out with a new Triax; however patent infringement or not BowTech has figured out how to create a solid back wall that Mathews can't even begin to touch.

So now I have both window stickers. Mathews has much cooler stickers, I'll give them that.

Shameful. Especially from a "refuse to follow" motto company that talks a good game of building bows with "outside the box" thinking. My only thought is that simple greed would have to be the root cause.
Wouldn't effect my decision to buy a bow that I liked the feel of and met all of the performance needs that I want though, no matter who the manufacturer is.

Hard to be too sneaky in IP theft on such a niche product. All you have to do is look at them side-by-side and the difference (or lack thereof) in form and function is obvious. It's a race to file the patent.

I think Bowtech was referring to taking the Matthew's out of the box it came in before they copied it..

Maybe the answer is stop forcing new bows every year. Take the time complete R&D then release. It's becoming like apple, only thing that changes is cosmetically.

I've seen plenty of both. Years ago it seemed that the Bowtech guys were pretty quick to point out how bad Mathews sucked. I have shot Mathews for over 20 years. But, the stickers have always gone in the trash. I am so cutting edge on technology that I make sure to buy a new one at least once every ten years or so. The deer and turkeys don't seem to mind what killed them. I still have every bow from my first fiberglass recurve other than a couple of very early compounds that I gave away to youngsters starting out. I guess I just stayed loyal because I never had a single problem with their bows even after using each for many years. Truth be told, I think any of the major manufacturers probably make a good weapon.
