Hey. Just got into this fun additive activity just last Monday. All I have to say is after a weeks worth of shooting I am in a love/hate relationship. I love to shoot but hate to spend more money but seems like that's the rub hahaha.

I picked up a used Hoyt Powermax and I'm really enjoying it. Probably sent down 300 arrows so far and now I want to doctor them up. Looking to possibly take out my first Turkey this upcoming spring season and I'm getting more and more confident. I've been shooting withing 30yrds and groups are tight and now I'm starting to move around in height and angle.

I wish there where more options for me in the yard but I am limited. Today I decided to try my luck on the second story deck at about 30 yards + or - and have to say this will only get better when I get my Rinehart I have on order.

Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated as this is my seasonal shutdown and trying to fit in as much as I can while I can.

    Setup as of now:
Hoyt Powermax in 60lbs 30" draw
    Truglo Range Rover duo
    Easton 6mm aftermaths100 grain tip
    Scott Sigma release

Keep logging target time, best trick of all. Nice shooting.

I agree with Okie, and I'll add to video or have someone video you to verify you are not enhancing problematic routines. There is tons of info on this forum and worth the work of wading through the crap to get it. Don't get wrapped up in the latest and greatest. Love it for what it is.

Oh believe me I will be logging hours and hours. Especially when I get my 3d target. Toss it all over the place and shoot away

Yeah I'm trying not to get wrapped up around the latest and greatest. But tell you one thing I love my thumb release. But even that's not terribly new

A friend discovered the height of the roof at the back of the house was the same as what he set his tree stand. Climb up from the deck and shoot at a deer target in the yard. He would also set it at different distances to set his sights. However...he went to LBL, shot nine times and missed all nine! One was directly below him which is a difficult shot, I'm told.

Shoot as much as you can. Get a turkey decoy if you can as well.

I grabbed up a few decoys and also got some magnus bullheads tuned up and flying well out to 30 yrds. Just have to practice calling and shooting from a blind I don't have yet lol.
