It's coming up fast guys.. We aren't ones to eat out often, so that won't be in the works. We give cards and I'll get a bag of his favorite candy bars. Years ago I made it clear NO CUT FLOWERS! Seriously what a waste of money. This year I ordered a dozen chestnut trees for what a dozen rose would cost on valentines day. So he came home and I said thanks for the ear!y Valentines gift...First I saw the look of relief, then came the " What did I get ya? "....LOL So what do you guys do or don't do?
Usually just a card. It's Valentiunes Day and Birthday all year long here. We usually get what we want/need anytime we want/need it. This year is different though My wife has been gone for three weeks visiting her mother. She gets back on Thursday. Sorry, OND, but she's gonna come home to a dozen red roses.
I buy nice summery type flowers in vase and have them delivered to where my wife works, Makes her day to have flowers on her desk in front of all other employee,s makes up for all the dumb things I did all past year ! I look at it as very cheap for the good it does, by the way just celebrated 45 years !
Over the years we never went on dates because of the kids and what not but now that the girls are getting older we have discussed going out for dinner.
We avoid eating out around Valentine's, complete and total amateur hour with overpriced specials. Cards, bunch of chocolate and something from Victoria's Secret has been working for years, just add a bottle or two of wine and viola.
Just a personal thing...I believe I was born with a " thrifty" gene...most say cheap. I told hubby if I go before him no funeral and donate me so the university has to cremated whats left. He wouldn't go for getting a morgue pick up .permit. On a brighter note I love live flowers...lol
I get an out every year if I forget about valentines day because we got engaged on Feb 16. Stupid day to sell cards and flowers.
This will be my our first Valentine’s Day married. The wife has her second ultrasound for our babies. We have twins on the way and we know ones is a boy and hoping that they can figure out what the second baby is at her appointment Friday. so she said for her Valentine’s Day gift when we know what both of them are she wants to pick them out there first outfits. Driving my wife to the airport at 4:30AM to fly to Oregon to visit our oldest son and grandchildren. V-Day is just another day on the Hallmark - Candy manufacturers & flower companies calendars.
Buying flowers/ gifts and especially CARDS is lame. Seldom have/ will never do again. .wanna make someone feel important, visit/ call on the phone.
