This year at our hunting spots in Pennsylvania we worked hard putting in clover, radish, and rye plots. They provided a lot of deer action throughout the season, but it seems like you can’t beat a stand of oaks when they are producing. This year they produced more than ever, we are still hunting around acorns now with the muzzleloaders, and my buddy was able to turn an arrow red on great buck in an oak stand during an October hunt.

I posted a video of my buddy’s hunt that he was very proud of on a whitetail deer hunting section of a bow hunting forum. He wanted to share his experience with other hunters. What would be the problem with posting this so someone else can see the experience first hand.

Good to share his success. Beats me for this past season. Many years ago, a friend got a small fork horn buck. When he field dressed it, he cut open the stomach...full of acorns! BTW, welcome for your first post and look for more in the future.

Thanks the deer have been loving them and the way it seems there are enough acorns on the ground to give the deer a food source for the next few months.

White Oaks are excellent for October early season whitetails.
Reds Oaks are excellent for mid-late November after all that tanic acid reduces in them.
