I obviously haven't seen everything they had at the ATA show, but of the things I did see, these were my faves. 1. Spypoint modem. This turns any brand trailcam into a cell cam. At $60 this could be a real game changer. 2. Hawk Ultralight XL treestand. This is supposed to be a 7lb stand for $179. If it's as advertised this would be great for hang and hunt. 3. A new Hawk Helium climbing stick. Nests together very nicely and reduced weight. A very nice stick for 139.00 4. Tie between a solar powered Spypoint mini cell cam and the new Stealth cell cam. The Spypoint is $199. and the Stealth cam is priced at $149. 5. The new cocking mechanism on the Tenpoint crossbows. I probably won't be buying a new crossbow but their new cocking mechanism is a giant leap forward as far as safety is concerned. Well there's my top five. Anyone else see anything that you thought was a real winner? Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
That tracking nock was really intriguing but at 100gr destroys FOC. Seems like it'd be really tough to tune.
I also thought it was a great idea but completely worthless if you don’t get a pass through and arrow breaks off as they bust through the woods after the shot. They need to come up with something that attaches to the front end of the arrow behind the head that detaches and can be tracked. Kind of like the old school string trackers had. Ya I thought that was a pretty cool idea as well but the weight would have been a deal breaker for me. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
Then you're their perfect customer- it's designed to stay stuck in the animal on a pass through, it detaches from the shaft. You aren't necessarily tracking the arrow, you're tracking the nock
Careful last years model cost me 150$ and it is horrible. Picture quality is bad in daylight and at night it doesn’t even work just a bunch of black pictures. Never sends the pics it takes and my phone and other peoples phones from different carriers all worn great out there.. and there customer service is horrible
I meant the spypoint modem that turns any traditional cam into a cell-cam however I have heard a good bit of negatives about spypoint cameras in general. Hopefully the modem works like its supposed to, sounds like a really cool idea, and for 60 bucs Ill take a chance with it
I’ll be checking the tetherd website daily in February to order the phantom. Glad I waited before ordering the mantis. I think the bulging disks in my L4/5 are gonna love me for buying it.
I just purchased the MD50 gear Archers Shot Saver. I've been looking something like that to warm up before practice and it has good reviews so we shall see.
Does anyone have a comprehensive list of the covered products? EDIT: I see bowhunting.com has been posting threads throughout the bowhunting talk section this year. Guess I will go through each page and check them out.
How well do we think these spypoint modems are going to work? How does it send media? Will it be high quality? Price plans? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
They are basically just an external modem. They have their own sd card that is attached to a ribbon cable that you will insert into the camera in place of the regular sd card. Of course whether they work well or not remains to be seen. The price will be $59.95 so it won't be that big of a risk. As far as the cell plan cost, I would guess the charges would be the same as their current camera charges. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
