Today's rant is ahole "captain" - guides on the gulf of mexico. Today paddling out of the mangrove tunnels headed to our favorite reef to fish, we are paddling to the spot we are getting close and a jack ass with a 250 hp motor sees where we are going and he opens up the throttle, we are close and he goes between us and the reef with 25 yards between our kayak and the reef, told him he was an *******, he ignored us and set anchor 30 yards to our right. D-bag move we caught fish while his clients did not he sat there and they caught nothing, while we caught some fish. they left and I said karma is a *****. My wife says I am an ******* and as I explained it is not healthy to hold emotions inside she agreed that what he did was assholish but I was wrong to tell him so.

I was really hoping to shoot my bow tonight - got a week or so between regular season and opening day for urban archery so wanted to catch up on some practice. Got home with an hour of daylight left, ran in and changed out of work clothes, then grabbed my bow and the moment I stepped outside the bottom fell out.
I 100% believe that story - I’ve been 75 miles out on the gulf stream (which is like 50 - 80 miles wide and 1,000’s of miles long) and still had ******* wannabe captains pull up and troll 30 ft from me. A lot of them use binos and spotting scopes to watch all the “private” boats from a distance and as soon as they see somebody on the fish they’ll pull gear and run wide open towards you and start trolling 50 feet away basically following you catching your scraps. I have never been on a kayak and had it happen but it’s a pretty common occurrence ocean fishing. There are so many times I’ve really wanted to unload a few flares towards one of those f**kers but didn’t want to risk a piracy charge on my record.

Plastic panels on the bottom of your car. I ran over a donkey that was sleeping in the middle of the road this morning. Donkey is miraculously fine. He just got up and walked off like nothing even happened despite going underneath the tires. Not sure how the hell thats possible but guess they’re just tough critters. Car is mostly fine too, all it did was rip 3 of those plastic underbody panels off. Just looked up the prices for them and the cost for the non-oem, el-cheap-o replacement panels is $250, $300, and $500 for each of the 3 plus whatever shipping is (probably a lot since they’re big awkward shaped items). Literally these are just big molded pieces of thin plastic. The big one costs more than a freakin replacement hood costs, which is about the same size and level of detail, but it’s made out of metal.
