Got permission to hunt another 15 acres that no one really hunts. Just gonna wing it for this season and then scout after season.

I went out yesterday in the rain with my .41 S&W revolver and shot a doe. Shot was around 30 yds, first one I ever took with a pistol, my dad killed a few with it years ago and thought it would be fun to take out.

I had a real fun time trying, wasn’t the biggest doe but doesn’t matter one bit to me. I would give it a shot sometime! I was practice with it out to 40 yds. Glad to have checked it off my list !

O ya, I’m a glutton for punishment! I’m heading to my buddy’s camp for “the last hooraw” today and staying till Sunday. I have the bow and pistol. We’re gonna sit the Am and Pm and do some drives in between. I still have a Pa buck tag and a Dmap doe tag. If nothing else will be fun to get away for the last trip of 2019, good luck to all who is still grinding.

I’ll get a few sits in around Christmas and New Years. Then a weekend before it ends in January over some food plots. It’s on the down slope for sure but It ain’t I’ve yet

Still at it boys. Seeing some young deer. But I am not seeing the number or the age of deer I usually see. This year has been really weird. We had more snow pre rut then I can ever remember. And I am thinking that messed things up. We normally have a couple inches of snow on the ground by Halloween. But nothing crazy. This year we had almost 2' on the ground by first week of November. And its still piling up. I have February/march snow Banks at my house already. So I am sure this effecting deer movement. They may have been heading to their winter yarding areas early and the rut could have taken place over there.

I'm hardly seeing tracks in the snow. Bad year.

I’m with you. Heading out for a afternoon hunt tomorrow. I’ll take anything decent. I lost my good pair of rattling antlers so I’d like to shoot something heavy mass short tined buck with small brows. Am I being too picky?? Lol

Went out this evening on the public I shot my first doe this year. Bumped quite a few does/fawns while scouting. Backed off a few hundred yards Hung a set. Then the private land owner to the north started shooting nonstop. I had a deer blast past me when it started but lost it in thick. No shots.

Thanks! but I guess my first sentence was misleading. I didn’t shoot a doe I went to the spot that I shot my first doe this year lol. Trying to plan a trip back out but my holiday stuff is so scattered it’s gonna be tough

Went just to wander around today to put up 2 cams to check for survivors on one property I hunt will go back in March or April to check. Will get other cameras out at another property later in the week for the same.

My season came back in PA for roughly a month, I’m still trying to get a buck down. Gonna focus on food and hope I get lucky. I need to pull cards and change battery’s on a handful of cams, didn’t have time over the holiday. Still have a doe tag for an urban area, might take one if given the chance, I just got a smoker and want to start making snack sticks.
