    I'm back on Kentucky for a few days of muzzleloader hunting.

    This is a different farmer's place than the one I usually hunt.

    I had planned to hunt a wooded north edge of s green field but the electric fence is hot so I can't get to a tree.

    I opted to walk to the south edge and finally found s red oak that lets me climb about 12 feet.

    I was about six feet off the ground, looked over my shoulder and there were three does out in the field already. One watched me as I slowly continued setting up and now sitting watching them plus two more that joined them.

    They're about 150 yards out.

    I'm going to wait until tomorrow morning before I shoot a doe so they're safe tonight.

    Well, I saw a "few" deer this afternoon sitting with my TC Encore.

    I couldn't get them all into one pic but I got the majority. At one point I had about 15 within easy muzzleloader range but I was hoping to see a buck.

    A group of about 8 led by a gigantic matriarch worked their way straight to me, walked into the woods almost right under me and bedded down.

    I ended up having to spook them off.

    See? I do have some self control.

    No tricks required. I came to shoot does. I just didn't want to mess up the area tracking and recovering does in the dark the first sit.

    If they show up tomorrow morning or tomorrow afternoon I'll be stress-testing my .50 cal speed loaders. :tu:

    I'm not sure what to expect here this morning. Yesterday afternoon was my first sit here.

    If I see something. I have no idea what the patterns are here. I walked in blind yesterday and was surprised by the doe numbers. Just as surprised as I am to not have seen the first deer in the field yet this morning.

    Something tells me it's just a matter of time.

    If they don't show this morning I'll shoot this afternoon.
