I sat out on Sat. I've mapped a long set of scrapes that run nearly 1 mile. Did a ground set in a spot I (thought I) had good wind, but a morning thermal betrayed me. I never got a good look at him, but I heard him working some trees then blowing up the place before bolting. I'm embarrassed, pissed and frustrated.
Got the flu or food poisoning Friday, so I was out of commission until today. Plans to hunt second gun season in Illinois. Looking forward to not competing with gunners after the weekend, though. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums

I got out this weekend but it was with the rifle and shotgun. Saturday was pretty easy. Had 5 does come in at first light and when the lead doe started the stomping and head bob game, I put an end to the game. I was pretty fortunate and very excited about the stag I took on Sunday. 17th of January. Sat this morning, kinda crazy. Was 54 with rain off and on. Tomorrow it’s supposed to be 23 and 12 mph wind out of the west. First day to try out the Sitka Fanatic bids & jacket.
Sat out Sat. Saw 4 does, chased by dogs, has my rifle misfire at 10 yds... Wish I had the bow instead would've been a rare occasion I would've been comfortable with a head on shot at a deer. Once I strategized of use the pistol instead of I had another shot, about 15-20 minutes later, i spooked the buck I was after. Ah well, I've got him pretty well figured out, if he lives another week on public land. Will be back with the stand and bow next week.

For me it’s 12/29. Headed to Texas on the 30th to the 2nd. Back home and then to Florida on the 5th to the 14th. Then Gulf Shores until the end of the month. Retirement sucks! Anyone know of a place to hunt around GS Alabama?
10 does and 3 bucks this morning. A 110” 8pt was checking out a couple of does. Scrapes are being opened back up here.
