Must be getting desperate for material, because I have witnessed multiple of these quotes & they are true.

I will start w/ Gut piles spook deer. They actually do, witnessed it. Also, there are other reasons not to leave them near your stand, 1-if you are unfortunate enough to have coyotes it will attract them. 2- If you hunt near homes w/ dogs, it will attract them, 3- if you don't have either of the first 2 the smell will linger for days & will spook deer.

Deer will not move in an east wind, you have to be over 20’ high.

A good list with the exception of promoting scent control.

Scent control products are a waste of resources, IMO.

I say that with confidence as I have openly minded used most of them at one time or another and they are no more effective than without.

Granted, sometimes you get a deer downwind and remain undetected and you think the product is working. However, I have just as many of these experiences without anything whether it be because of wind channels, wind thermals, or young and stupid deer.

I hunt a lot of afternoons during the week and time is of essence by the time I get there relative to deer movement. No camo, no scent control, etc. Quit work and get on stand ASAP.....Getting to stand 5-10 minutes earlier than taking the time it would take to go through the necessary exercises in futility to accomplish these, is much more in important, IMO.

Dont use explosives to hunt with. Once I disregarded that advice my success ratios went through the roof.

I think the problem with scent control is ppl think that you can successfully eliminate your scent and subsequently ninja a buck cutting it's throat and then Riding it back to your truck.
I practice scent control for the seconds not the illusion.

My top three that I didn’t see mentioned

    #1
I’ve heard people say “if you don’t aim low on a deer then you probably won’t kill em, because they will jump the string.”
I realize that Deer ducking arrows is a real thing, but I feel like it’s over-exaggerated. Especially at closer distances (20yds and in)

    #2. Crossbows aren’t bows.

#3 mechanicals are inferior to fixed blades.

Okay, I’m kidding about the last two “myths”!!!
Its just a joke.... we all know they are facts ;)

Update LFTS thread as you hunt it won't affect your hunt.

Brodie didnt mention the worst advice but we all know what it is. And I'm sure at least half of us did discuss it with our wives or girlfriends or both...

Had a couple guys say they never wait more than an hour to track a deer. I had a feeling maybe they mainly were gun hunters but with the confidence/arrogance in the way they said it that level of stupid didn't warrant a response so I left it alone and talked about something else.
