Discovered that my neighbor on the other side of the swamp is feeding the deer. I was pissed but it is what it is. Thing is the neighbors house is right up by the road, the feeder in their back yard, the path that the deer are taking them thru my property on a slight bump between 2 ponds, the water levels are high so they always use the bump. No tree to put a stand in so I have to build a brush blind, a ground blind would be too obvious. Snow is coming Tuesday at some point, I hope to get a blind made and sit in it tomorrow evening.
No time I have to run my son's scrap venison up to get made into venison bacon and pepper jack sticks. Then I have a dentist appointment at 1 to repair a tooth I cracked in half. Busy day have to get the blind built in the morning.
The thing that pisses me off is that I signed off on letting them build a garage that was too close to the property line, I even took care of getting the document notarized. I watched her feed the deer yesterday I know what time, the schedule. The hunt within the hunt. There will be blood.
I think I might be experiencing the same thing as you. I spent all last week hunting and saw zero bucks. No chasing that I saw, not even any scrapes, I normally see quite a bit of both on my place during the rut. Hardly any does either, which isn't normal at all. There is a property a short distance away that the owner started leasing to a hunting club a couple of years ago and I'm really starting to wonder what they have done on that property. No one has any food plots in the area, the area is all timber with natural meadows, so if they put in a plot I think it would be a magnet. Baiting is illegal so I'd like to think they aren't doing that and it is food plots that have changed the patterns. Looks like I'd better quit just thinking about putting one in and get serious next year. I wonder what will grow decent at 4200" elevation in soil high in clay content? I hope your plan comes together, good luck!
Yeah scouted blind locations the only willow clumps that are workable I would be sitting in water, the pond levels are that high. Walked around from the other direction and found a rub line. The deer are staying down in the swamp not going up in the pasture. Well thats it I may hunt Friday but the usual post season feeding program is done no more 25o pounds per week of feed. Let them eat browse, no reseeded spring clover plot either. You does had 1 job and you failed me 2 years in a row.
