Well, I’m taking the wife on a cruise for her 55, then head out on the 15th until I get it done. Seems like a fair trade.

How many points do you need for a good elk hunt in Wyoming? I have 5 right now for me and my son and and was looking to do elk, antelope and or mule deer next year before he turns 18 and has to buy a full price tag.

About the only tag you can draw for two people with 5 points combined maybe the general tag. I say maybe because I am not sure 2.5 is lock in the regular draw.

We have 5 points each, not combined if that makes a difference. I drew an antelope tag out there a few years ago that I filled and have been waiting to go back to get into a good unit.

5 points will get you a tag, if it's better then general tag that's debatable.
There are plenty of units you can draw.

I burned 5 points in the special draw last year. It was an ok hunt, I dont think it was worth 5 points. In retrospect I would have drawn two general tags and hunted twice, or saved the points. I didn't think the unit was all that much better then some general units. Certainly wasnt worth the cost of the special tag.
