Alright back at the house. Coffee, check. Food in the works. Full blown dilemma. I really want to hunt later, but my little one who is 8 is here. With all that's been going on our every other weekend routine has gone all to hell and I only got her today this weekend. I'm going to hang out with her though. Just venting to you all since we suffer the same affliction. I almost want to take her to hunt/scout on the ground, since these deer are no shows in the usual places. I'll see what she has to say since the weathers not bad.

Best time ever " snuggle" and talk, maybe bring up the good child hood adventures you had,let her get to really know you and your family history , parents, grand parents and such. I feel that gets lost today and is important. Tablet and games as a last resort...lol
P.S. woods mans skills bring a length of rope and teach her knots...ect

This says it all! This is the place I come to share my in the woods experiences. I don't let somebody not updating their initial post bother me though. Life's too short!! All of you guys/gals are my good friends here, even though I've not actually met any of you. We share a common interest, so let's just be kind to one another. My great aunt used to tell that to my brother and I when we were kids.

I do need to mention, that I don't actually post much from the stand for a few good reasons. The biggest reason is I can't afford to keep taking my eyes off of the bush that my deer call home. By the time I see/hear one, it's already in bow range, so I need to be ready. Second is how fast the App eats up battery life, and third is it doesn't post my pics most of the time. :throw:Yes, I have tried just using the browser, but it has it's moments as well!!

Enjoy your time with her. She will only be 8 once. The deer will always be here.

Jumped a small buck at 11 when I got to my stand. Just had a doe come through about 100mph. Gonna sit here till 2:30 then go to the other side of the property. Want to see bucks chasing does, not the squirrels chasing all over the place

I too have my 12 yr old every other weekend. Used to get her through the week but school work is getting more and more and we live an hour apart. When I have her I will hunt the morning till 8 or 9 cause she sleeps that late anyway. But otherwise I won’t ditch her to hunt. Every once in awhile she will go do “girl stuff “with my wife or mom or gma which allows me a hole to slip away. You’re doing the right thing by spending time w her. If she doesn’t want to go to the woods they will be there waiting

I want to thank you all for your support... I can’t tell you how much it has meant to me... I have learned so much on this thread...

I haven’t wounded a deer in a long time.... I guess the odds were stacking up against me.... I will confess... I kept getting aggravated with all the lost deer from this thread alone as well as people I know.... I was getting judgmental... and it’s because I had killed a lot since the last lost deer....

All it took was a target buck (only happened once before) showing up at the last 40 minutes of the last day of archery to make me make every mistake you could make ... I wish I could turn the clock back.. he’d be at my taxidermists....

Apologies for my judgement on all that have lost deer ... I kept quiet, but I was judging inside....

Like previously mentioned... let’s compose ourselves before we pull that trigger...

Thanks again guys and gals .... looking forward to meeting some of you for an Ohio hunt next year!

Just had 2 more does run through. Stopped once to look behind them. Don't know what's going on. Maybe someone walking the property behind me.

Well said. Sorry you didn’t have a good ending to your story. Hopefully with all the “lost” deer this year we ALL can and will learn from it. That’s one of the biggest reasons I follow this thread so closely

Bowhunting aint easy, that is for sure. That is why we are all a little crazy. Haha. After my misses last week Ive gotten back to being zeroed in on my gear working in tip top shape. Gear...bows and arrows..they dont excite me that much. I cant even remember what type of rest or sight I have on my bow..
But I need to get back to the shooting basics.

Im going into two swamps this week via kayak and Im gonna shoot a buck. Haha
