    Hey guys!

My son and I are still hunting. We haven't killed anything yet but I'm trying hard to get him his first bow kill.

He could have killed a doe yesterday afternoon and this afternoon but he's sitting on great buck sign and to his credit he didn't take them.

This morning at about 10:30 I had a hell of a shooter 10 point walk by me at 50 yards. The width of the rack was very similar to the buck I killed but the tines were about half again as tall. Probably a 145-ish buck. I wouldn't have taken a 50 yard shot but it didn't matter. I can't shoot a buck right now anyway. Can't believe I didn't raise the bow and turn on the Tactacam.

This evening at dark we were both pinned in our trees by does feeding under us. My son texted me and said he was pinned. I texted back and said "Me too".

My son's solution was to reach into his pack, grab a handful of fun-size candy bars and throw them at the deer.

To me that's hilarious because two years ago my son-in-law found himself in the same situation and he threw cough drops.

Anyway, my son got down, walked up the road to me, ran another deer under my tree and spooked the does by me off.

We will adjust and see what we can do. I can't give the team any more points but I can still kill deer. :tu:

Oh crap! Forgot to say that yesterday afternoon I whiffed on a doe.

    I made two mistakes.

I ranged her at 40 yards but I was 25 feet up and she was down a steep slope and on full alert. For some reason I didn't take either into consideration.

Me not judging the yardage correctly and her dropping resulted in my arrow whizzing just over her back.

I was actually a little relieved that I didn't have to skin and quarter another deer.

Glad to hear you a having a good time with your son. If he’s anything like his dad it’s just a matter of time before he puts one down.

    Okay.

So it's sleeting here and it's 28 degrees with a wind chill of 19 and the temps are plummeting.

My son is on stand in my spot close to camp.

I'm in the camper because he didn't bring any rain gear with him so I let him use my rain suit and tree umbrella and I stayed my doe-hunting-only butt here where it's warm.

He just texted me and said that he had three does at 23 yards but couldn't draw because they were jumpy and on alert.

C'mon boy! Draw and shoot! What do you have to lose? You're in my stand!!!

    Well crap.

It got down to 12 degrees this morning with a wind chill of 1 degree and my water line is frozen somewhere in my travel trailer.

I have the arctic package on it but I think the problem was that I didn't remember to open the cabinet doors so heat could get to the plumbing.

All I can do is try to thaw it out and hope that the PEX water lines aren't ruptured.

I figured that was why you asked.

On another note it's freakin' cold here. It needs to warm up so I can thaw the travel trailer water line and see how much damage has been done.

Yeah this cold caught me off guard. Still have a few things at home to do to get ready for winter. Hopefully your camper is alright LC. I’m worried about an un winterized jet ski. I hope it drained enough and has stayed warm enough in my garage.

Well unfortunately I didn’t get it done during my vacation. I’m going to try and hold out for a good buck but I would be lying if I said I wasn’t very tempted to kill a two year old last night.
I need to get my doe numbers in check too so I will be taking another one out and we’ll see about getting the wife one too.

Good luck guys I still think this team is going to put some more points on the board.
