That's awesome Early, wouldn't it be something if your woods actually improved after that mess? You never know, Congrats!

I hope this settles you a little bit. I've shot that exact same tip through numerous deer including in to and through ribs. If you don't break that tip off it will stay stupid sharp!

Well when i first shot and he ran off with arrow hanging out, my first thought was "crap I aimed to far forward and hit the shoulder." But after seeing arrow im not sure that's case with the way it looked. I would think the tip woulds been smashed to hell or at least not have a sharp point. Been replaying everything in my head and don't feel like it was high. But with me being in the stand and where he was more down hill I'm not convinved it was low because would think at that angle and it being low it woulda blew threw brisket. When he ran off from what I could tell it was mid to little above mid body. I was never able to see blood coming oit of opposite side and the blood I followed showed he was only bleeding out of entry side.

As far as blood not gushing out, from what I've found I'm not surprised because I watched him trott or walk across field. Only thing I could tell was he was limping pretty bad and that showed in the snow where he was dragging leg along.

As far as timber he's in they're somewhat thick but not alot of overgrowth. Pretty hilly and steep in some spots so I'm hoping when get out in morning to check few paths through there that would be easy to get around with bum leg.

I'll try and get a pic of area to post and in morning I'll climb up in stand to show where shot was

The maturity that your story shows took me many years as a hunter to learn, for me if I ever lose that adrenaline rush I will hang up my bow and just call it a career. There is nothing like what we do the hours we spend scouting, the hours spent on stand in the cold praying to see the buck of our dreams or that nanny that has busted us countless times. Each of us wether it be the guys that can only get out a couple of times a year or some of you maniacs that get to hunt all the time (lucky buggers). There is nothing that I’ve ever done that gives me the feeling that a day in the woods does. Shane enjoy college and hunt when you can. Proud of you young man, you figured out way before I did that it’s a trophy no matter how big the antlers are.

Yea i was more thinking surely if it slammed into shoulder like originally thought, there'd be some damage. I've shot few deer with these and not really worried it was anything to do with broadhead. Just kinda added that before someone else brought it up. I've had good enough luck with them that regardless of how this turns out I won't be rushing to town to buy something different.

sorry i didn't post today guys. i had to choose between frozen fingers to post or warmth. i chose warmth. my day was awful to start out finding that the same thief came back with help to steal the rest of my stand. i don't have time to be upset about it since this is my last week to hunt. i quickly got out of there and headed to my other spot. about 3:00 i had a mega giant that i have no history with dog a doe to about 45yds then he drove her away from me then i seen another good buck right at dark. so i'm heading back in the morning. i feel i'm getting close to killing at this spot.
