I’ve never killed one in the snow, but it was snowing so hard it covered up the blood.

1/4” probably. It’s still coming down sideways out there

Send some cold my way. 62 degree when I walked out tonight. Saw zip, nada. I hope the falling temps tomorrow get them moving again !!

We are right in the thick of this race. A few more does and another decent buck or 2 we will be right there. Good luck everyone!

Hey, look at the buck right below yours on the score card page. I don't like calling guys out, but he is way off on his buck. There is no way in hell that is a 141" buck. I'd say 110" at the most.

I think someone questioned it in the general banter thread. I figured they weren’t talking about me bc mine looks like it measured out.

Rain this morning, think I will run into work for few hours then home to hit the woods this evening.

Next Saturday I’ll be breaking out the ol 30-06 to fill my last doe tag. I don’t get too worried about shooting anything, but I like to set in the old stand me and my dad built and listen to all the guns going off and bullets whizzing by lol.

Here's the issue. He counted the greatest spread and the tip to tip spread in the gross score. 22 4/8 should be deducted from the gross score should be 118 5/8, not 141 1/8.

    Shawn,

I was just about to post a picture of a 115 5/8 deer I took a few years ago. His buck and my buck then looked identical, I was gong to say that buck at most may be upper 118, 119 at most 120. Glad they found it to be an honest error............

Again, I know this is just a fun contest, but you'd be surprised at guys even that's been hunting a long time can't properly, or just don't know how to score a deer. I just like it being fair for all involved.

I love hunting the snow. I like to find some fresh tracks and just follow them in and try to sneak up on something. That’s about as close as I get to a spot and stalk hunt. Everywhere I hunt is mostly thick woods that are covered with crunchy leaves. The thick woods means I can’t really glass for anything or even really see anything that’s more than 50 yds away (and usually a lot less) and even if I do it’s damn near impossible to sneak up on something when you’re walking through a 2” deep mixture of dried leaves and twigs. If I’ve got a couple inches of fresh snow to cover my sound and show me some tracks though I’m in business.

It doesn't look like this has been corrected in the scorecard thread yet. Has anybody alerted him to his error?

Yesterday evening was good. Saw five bucks and one doe, all five bucks went down same trail nose to ground. Two potential shooter both eight points, grunted they stopped but they were clearly on a mission and continued on their way. I also saw several more deer at last light, look to be doe being chased about 80 yards to my left.

In to work for few hours then back at it this afternoon.

Got off work later than expected, no hunting this evening. Got work all day tomorrow so no hunting, back in the saddle on Saturday morning. My old body needs a rest anyways.

I know the feeling about the old body. I'm not that old, but I've had several accidents in my 53 years and even though I love the hunt, my body does appreciate a rest every now and then.

Big winds this morning, learned long time ago a walk in the woods in the dark with winds like this could be hazardous to your health. Going to do a mid morning all day sit. Easier to see the widow makers falling towards me when the sun is up !!!!
