Well no dice today in am and pm. Last hunt until I get back from Alaska end of next week. Can't wait to go shoot some sea ducks.

Saw just a small one this morning. My son filled his buck tag this evening. Took a tall racked 8. Think he's a 3 year old, maybe 2. Probably goes about 110" got pic with the 2 grandsons. 20191106_185436.jpg

Well here we go, rutcation starts in the A.M. I hope the cold weather moving in helps kick the rut off and the big boys moving.

all I can say is "Heater Body suit" 29 degrees with steady 14 mph wind gust to 25. Heading back out soon.

Yesterday afternoon hunt saw 7 doe with 2 in range, let them walk. Saw the basket 8 at 21 yards, thinking he is three, small bodied buck. Maybe my hunting partner will get a shot at him, he needs to go. Struggling with my hip hurting again, getting old is not fun !!!

This morning was good, saw one of my shooters pushing a doe so that tells me the cold front may have helped kick off the full rut. Had a big 6 within 30 yards but holding off. Going to sit a tent this evening and give my hip a rest from climbing, SE wind not the greatest but I got the Ozonics that should help.

I didn’t see anything this morning. Can’t hunt this evening. I’m not sure where I’m hunting tomorrow yet

I hunted yesterday saw 4 deer, and the only one in range was a 4 point...... I was really hoping it was a doe so I could let one fly, but no does in range. This morning I was out and just had a doe cut passed me at about 50 yards, Most likely it was a fawn from this year it was small. I'll be hunting tomorrow as much as I can. Maybe tonight if my Wife get home in time for get out, even if it's for an hour i'm going out. Goodluck everyone!

I didn’t do much better, had a spike right by the stand for 45 minutes, he was practically begging me to shoot him and saw a small 4 pt (as in small compared to your average 4 pointer, so basically a fawn with exceptional antlers) but he never came closer than 75 yds.

Also, I need some scent control advice ASAP before I head out for the afternoon hunt. Is anybody familiar with smoking your clothes?

I moved a stand after I climbed down this morning since I didn’t see **** and that stand is the only stand I have that works with today’s wind direction (we hardly ever get wind out of the northeast). I am an idiot and decided to do it with the only set of hunting clothes I’ve got with me and I worked up one hell of a sweat. I’ve heard lots of people talk about smoking your clothes and that it works but never done it myself and it’s kind of my only option.

I know this is probably a stupid question but is it as simple as hanging them downwind from a campfire so the smoke blows on them for a while or is there more to it?

Should I add a bunch of green **** to get it extra Smokey or is regular campfire all I need?

Also, what about smoking your body, does that work too? The propane ran out on my portable shower out here this morning and I’ll be damned if I’m going to take a shower in 35 degree water when it’s 40 outside.

Small bucks moving and harassing doe last night. Saw an old and I mean old buck, saggy skin, grey face top to bottom of face. Had just a spike on each side about 18 inches long that curled back like a Ram. If I see him I am killing him, he is cool.)))) Had a basket 8 and a bigger 6 right under stand.

Heading out soon for the afternoon.
