15 more minutes and I'm calling it. Long walk of shame back to the car.

1D0E16B3-A00F-4267-92F7-4EF3EF40A2F2.jpeg I stuck it out till 10. Didn’t see a deer except two does that blew at me as soon as I got out of my truck lol. My friend was hunting in the bottoms about 300yds from me and he saw deer all morning. No shooters but movement anyway. We both stayed till our bows were covered in ice. Icy bows don’t work well I know from experience. Going to catch a cat nap and get out in the snow this evening. I think my 4 yr old is confused about the weather change though

Looks exactly like that here in Chicagoland. The whole state must be covered. I’ll be down that way starting Friday for a week and right now the conditions are looking pretty damn good.
Low 30’s for lows, right around 50 for the high and sunny. Perfect

Thinking about moving...decided to move for the upcoming wind shift. Moved about a hundred yards to a big patch of the briars that I’ve seen the doe eating. Fresh sign all around it.

got a text from my dad, he had a buck chasing a doe in front of him at 5 yards. He was on a he ground and had no time to react. I’m happy he got to see some rut action up close!

Finally up. Made it 1.5 miles and was close to setting up when I heard a grunt tube being blown over and over...and over. Diverted a half mile to my back up spot with this wind. Guarding two entrances to this swamp. Took me a good 30 min to walk the last 200 yards. Right by the beds.

Well after covering a lot of ground we did not recover the deer. He had jumped it once before he called me. I got there about 45 minutes later then started the track again from the beginning. That deer should have been dead multiple times from all the blood we were finding lots of bubbles then clotting and more bubbles. Laid down multiple times. Laid down in open field. I couldn’t help him anymore I had another commitment. We must have covered an easy mile. Trying to get my legs back under me to get back out I’m sore. Good luck 2nd shift.

    No Mas....

I gave up and am about to just give up.

Ended up sitting in a stand today rather than the box blind. Got in at 5:30am left at 10:30. Right footwarmers gave up the ghost.

Total deer seen, 0. Confidence level, 0.

I'd better not ever hear someone tell me we need cooler weather for the rut. It does absolutely no good.

Might make it back out Wednesday, have to see how it goes.

Think the place has been overhunted or something, never seen it this bad.

I'm up! Only took me 2 1/2 hours to walk to this spot at a snails pace! Haha. Leaves are so loud, just took my time.

Sit 6 or 7 hrs on the stand and see nada. Hike out and find 2 new scrapes and bump 3 or 4 unknown... Fml
