When i was a kid I only ever hunted at the home place, of course that was the only property I had to hunt. Now I've got 4 different properties to hunt and it's like playing roulette and I am always overthinking. Tonight I thought i would have better luck at another property and saw some does but the neighbor to one of my other properties was out hunting and watched a possible 150 class deer chase 2 does right towards my stand. Of course lol! Why wouldn't that happen while I'm not there! How many properties is too many for you guys?

Well I hunt 7 properties so I feel your pain. What really sucks is when I choose one and while I’m sitting there waiting on a deer my cell cam goes on and that pic is a shooter on one of the other properties. Happens all the time sadly. Could be worse though. Could have no where to hunt.

That’s a chunk of earth right there. You can do some serious deer management on something that big.

well down here in southeast VA we have the old tradition of deer dogging.. Im in a hunt club with 35 members and houndsmen. if you want to hunt private land you basically have to join a club and they all hunt with dogs and shotguns come mid november. been doing it for 400 years..and while I grew up doing it and continue to do it and have fun doing it, my kids love the action I love the group and the hounds, my first love is and always has been bowhunting. We have a size limit on bucks as do most of the surrounding hunt clubs.. that's about as far as the management goes.. our club kills on average 150 deer a year and some other clubs kill 300 a deer a year.. we have unlimited doe tags and 3 buck tags.. needless to say...there is a lot of deer in VA

Have a family farm (main spot) and then 5 other spots. Def tough to pick but that’s where cams come into play, at the end of the day it’s luck on being at the right place at right time. I’d rather have more spots to choose from than subjected to one chunk of land.

yep. I hunt three properties scattered over two counties. Sometimes I think it would be more enjoyable and certainly less stressful to just hunt the home place, but I am afraid I will miss out if i downsized and it does help keep everything fresh.

If you have one place, consider yourself blessed.
I’m a city boy but LOVE getting away and into the field.
Not having anywhere to hunt unless I’m invited stinks! Day 42 of archery season and here I sit. I do have an invite for gun season, and for that I’m thankful.

THANKS to all our veterans and those current serving!

Man that sucks. I guess there is no public land close enough to you?
