I am on my 5th year of bow hunting. To date, I've taken 6 deer in 5 seasons. I know many of you have probably lost track of how many you killed or shot at over the years. I will continue to keep track of kills/misses, non recovers etc. I feel like the ones we miss or not recover are the ones we will remember more.

    I am 6 for 9 = 66% success rate on deer.

Overall, all animals taken with a bow:
    12-20= 60%

Anyone care to share their success rate just for fun?

I started bow hunting in 2015, I didnt kill my first feer with a bow till 2017.

So Ive had a 2017 buck, 2018 hog, and a 2019 Buck. Hopefully Ill add a doe or too to that this year.

I had a shoulder shot doe in 2016 that survived.

64 bow kills. (deer) 30 years of bowhunting..passed on a lot of deer over the years as well... missed several, lost some as well.. not sure the number of misses but I kill em more than I miss em. I can deal with clean misses a lot better than wounding them and losing them.. but it happens. not sure what the success rate is.. I know that I have gut shot 2 or 3 never found them. I know i hit one in the shoulder not recovered and one I hit in the ham not recovered...this was years and years ago.. had I known then what I know now, the gut shots would have been recovered. learned to back out and let em lay

I started bow hunting in 2004, I didn't get serious about it until 2008 and killed my first with a bow in 2009. Other than 2018, I have killed at least one a year with a bow since 2009. My best year was 2015, killed three does and one buck that year. To date in 2019, I have shot 14 deer with a bow and recovered 11 of them, with a doe I shot on the opener of this season being one of my failed recoveries. I think that is a 79% success rate. Most have been does, just two bucks so far with a bow.

I've recovered 20 deer with my bow in 20 years. I didn't shoot my first deer with a bow until my third season. I've failed to recover 3 deer. One hit in the shoulder and got no penetration. He lived. I gut shot a doe, and jumped her while tracking. She ran into the next county. The last deer was a double lung shot, and she ran into a 20 foot deep pond that was lightly frozen over. She broke through the ice and didn't come back up.

My success rate was very poor when young.had no money so scrounged what I could. Everything was missmatched.
Sorry to say but I wasn't real ethical in my early years:(
    Was an arrow- flinger.
Last 25 years I've become anal on perfect shot placement.
Have shot 189 deer with a bow but have missed many and made poor shots on ( too many).

189 deer killed with a bow??? If you killed 3 deer each year, it would take 63 years of bow hunting to accomplish such a number...
I was never a genius at math but even I can figure that one out... :eek2:
Just how old are you sir?!

14 years hunting of any kind. I started with bowhunting. Around 10-12 deer shot and I recovered. I'm sure ive passed on over 100 deer I could have shot. I have 4 wounded deer never recovered and a few clean misses. My best is a 167" brute. I doubt I've let more than 25 shots go from the stand. I'm kinda picky as far as shot placement. Wounding deer will do that to you.
