Bored at work looking at Google Maps of random places in Iowa... That would be such an insane state to hunt with all the river bottoms, fingers, and ridges. Every spot you look you think "that's got to hold some massive deer."

Currently thinking about that swamp again. The first mile on the canoe took about 25 min. The last 1.5 miles took like an hr and a half. Trees down over the water. Picking up and putting down the trolling motor. Getting out and walking the canoe in the water.

Think im just gonna bank the boat at mile one and then walk in the last mile or so. If I got some waders I could walk on the far side of the creek then cross over right before my hunting spot to prevent ground scent. Trying to make it work without killing myself with effort and time.

Seems like a legit plan to me. Can worry about portaging the canoe once you knock down a big one!

I’m down, getting a quick bite to eat and emptying the tank then going to hunt my way in on the new property

Been quiet since mid morning. It’s just one of those days where you can picture a real giant appearing out of nowhere.

    Any second now.

Wow! Hope that doe feels secure in there and brings him back in. Good luck! Remember they will be on high alert looking for you. Try to spot them before they spot you.

They didn’t blow, I was about 40 yards when they jumped up. They didn’t bolt just galloped a lil , stopped then walked off

Quite honestly the Lake is full of stumps and sticks and any second I could turn that dang Canoe over in the dark. That is my main concern. I got permission last year to enter that area from the back side so I would not have to come in by Canoe. But the land manager has changed and I need to figure out who it is now. That would be the easiest way
