So today just sucked. I haven’t killed a deer in two years despite best efforts on public land. This year I’ve sat three times without seeing a thing. FINALLY, today I had three deer come out. I had a doe perfectly quartering away at 15 yards. It was a chip shot. I draw, aim, and fire... and the arrow lands in her pelvis. My string snagged my collar of my jacket on the shot and caused the arrow to fish tail and hit terribly. Not a drop of blood. Arrow stopped half way in her. I’m gonna go look for her tomorrow, but I don’t have high hopes

Would there be blood if the arrow didn’t exit?

well if you hit the artery, it will die in about 10 seconds.. if you hit he ham there should be blood... but it is possible not to find any as well..

Definitely need to check the area good. If the femoral got snagged then it would fill the pelvis up with blood and as she ran there should be some blood coming back out. But that could be 50yds before blood started coming out. Go to last spot you saw her running and go from there.

I shot her with 15 mins left till dark last night and forgot my headlamp. I tried looking with my phone light with no luck but she also ran in the woods about 15 yards from where I shot her. I never heard her fall, but I also didn’t hear her sprint off through the woods. I plan on going back after my morning sit today and looking for her

Give her plenty of time then go see what you can find. You never know. If you're sure half that arrow got into her, there is a good chance you may have gotten more than just a ham. It sucks for sure... we've all dealt with this situation at some point. Just do your due diligence and look thoroughly.

Definitely look, you never know. I've hit many animals that took 50 yards or more before blood started hitting the ground.
I once witnessed a guy stalk and shoot a cow elk. He misjudged the yardage and hit her right above the knee in the front leg.
    Not at all good, right?
Amazingly, he cut a main artery. She bled like a stuck pig and was found 300 yards away as dead as can be.
If you cut the femoral artery it may still take a bit for the blood to hit the ground. She won't be real far if you did cut it.
    Best of luck to you.

I appreciate it. I’m big on respecting the sport and the animal. I am normally picky on my shots, so this is the first time ever I have not recovered a deer (so far). Just trying to make the best of it and respect the game

Success!!! Can’t figure out how to post a pic on here. Tracked her with vary sparse blood for 75 yards. Bright red blood. Must have hit the artery. Praise god
