Hell yeah, dude!!! Way to go!!!! Kyle is a guy who we believe to belong to PETA and has secretly infiltrated our team :D
Somebody turned a switch on since the last time I sat in a tree! Was out this morning for 4 hours and was covered up in deer. It was about 40°F and misting rain with a light breeze, so it was not terrible out, just a bit cool and damp. Two big bucks came in just after 7 and didn't hang around long enough for me to get a look at them before the sky brightened up enough to see details. The smaller of the two came back a couple of times - he is a good big bodied 4 year old but is probably about a 120-something eight point ... I've shot enough of those over the years. This screen cap from the video was taken just about the beginning of legal shooting light. A nice big doe came in at about 7:30 (still about 15 minutes before sunrise) and I took a shot at her. I should have waited as I realized as I was looking through my peep and sight that I didn't have enough light to have a very good view. The arrow went high and grazed her back. I actually couldn't tell that in real time, but she came back about an hour later and there was a clear gash where the broadhead made a nice slice right across her back. I even had a chance to draw on her again, but she didn't step clear of some overhanging branches and I had to let down. I got out of the tree at about 9:30 and there were still some young does about 50 yards away that I couldn't see from up in the tree. It should have been today, but it won't be too long before I join the hit parade. One good thing about that missed shot - I've got my first draw and shot under pressure behind me for the season so the next one should go better!
Up the same tree for the evening. Chased off the same group of young does that were there when I got down this morning. We'll see how it goes! Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk
Had one fawn show up. Oh well, I guess mornings are just a better bet in this location. Weather was practically identical to what it was in the morning. Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk
I do believe we took the lead again with bowhunt's buck! We have momentum! I think we got this guys. Sent from my LML212VL using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
bowhunt4abuck way to get it done man! Congrats on a great buck! The Rut is almost here, anyone got plans? taking time off? Going anywhere?
I'm pretty much out of vacation so I'll just be hunting mornings and weekends from here on out. Looks like we're sitting in 3rd place after the update. Time to drop a few much bucks!
Doe down! Taking her to one of the local processors who gives the meat to our county food bank. Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk
Way to go, Rev!!!! We are currently third even counting Rev’s doe ... we need some horns! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Added to the score thread with two pics. My first shot on her at about 15 yards or so was actually a high shot that caught lungs and spine - passed through and dropped her where she stood. She fell on that arrow and broke it ... so that's an expensive doe! I put a second shot in the heart to finish her off humanely. This is the second shot that was high I've made in two attempts on deer from that same stand - the coup de grâce was right on the money as were several shots I took at a target when I got home. Bucks were chasing doe all over the place on this the first morning we've had freezing temps on the year.
